Football manager 2016

Just finished my first season as port vale was expected to finish mid table, got promoted through the play-offs.

My best player wont go into contract negotiations because he doesn't think the club matches his ambitions, managed to grab a few players for free that have been released by fulham, leeds and reading so hopefully ill be okay in the championship.

Whats the best way to develop hot prospects with decent potential?

Literally just started playing FM, the last time I played it, it was Championship Manager & made by Domark :D

Started up a few seasons just to get a feel for it and things re going ok, are there any recommended skins to make moe info available in just one screen? I keep missing certain things as there is so much info tucked away!

The only BPL team I've ever started a save with was as QPR. I've never played with any of the big clubs. I don't know why it is - maybe I'm worried about the board expectations expecting to win everything in the first season. It takes me a good 12-18 months to get a feel for the club and to develop it with an excellent back room and youth setup. I would feel under too much pressure.

Seeing how bad Newcastle have been this year with the stadium they have, thought it was a good starting point. Might also start a save with Parma and try get them up.

I prefer lower league to the top than taking a top team and dominating. I rarely last more than 2 seasons with an already established team but coming from the bottom up I will play for ages.

Yeah true, but I started with the default newcastle team like mitrovic, anita, coloccini, etc. It was only through buying cheap and selling high I managed to sign an unhappy ozil which then led to reus and bale.

I'd find it boring if I started with them, but the fact that I managed to get them to Newcastle was something for me as I've always just signed regens and made the next stars (which is what I'll do next).

Never expected to sign anyone like that 3 seasons into the game haha.

I'm doing really well with Bishops :D. I won the FA Trophy in my first season in the National conference. Now I'm in my second season and I'm in first spot with a nice 10 point buffer between me and the next team as I break into January.

They only have a 548 seater stadium however  That will surely cripple me in due course, but I haven't the means to upgrade or expand. I expect I will win promotion to League 2 shortly, in which case I want to stay there for several seasons. I'm in no rush to get into the BPL. With my paltry stadium and back room facilities I want to upgrade these as soon as possible.

I have managed to find a couple of really decent players as it goes. One I sold for £80,000 in the end. He was a 16 year old defender, with a reasonable amount of potential. He was a free transfer so he didn't cost me a penny either. I've just bought another young player off QPR. £6,000. He's a 19 year old right back, with a lot of potential. I'd say he will end up being a very good Premier league player providing I can play him enough and I can keep hold of him. Either way, he should be worth 6 figures in the future so I'm hoping that is my stadium upgrade sorted :D

Another player I picked up on a free, is Sean Murray. He's turns into a really good lower league player. He's usually free, or very cheap, and he is realistic in his demands. I seem to find him every club I play at some point or other. In this save he has developed into a bit of a killer player. He's already scored 6 goals for me this season and he is capable of playing as a central midfielder or a right winger so he's useful. According to my scouts he is a very capable League 1 player, so I expect I will lose him this coming transfer window. But hopefully I'll make a big profit.

Try and get Tristan sword from port vale if possible unless he has already moved hes become one of my best Attacking midfielders and he was worth just over 10k when i started my first season with port vale.

I just noticed one trend with this game, the touch version. If you are favourites for a game and an ex player or pundit comes up saying that they hope the club keeps playing the same way and should win against *next team* easily.

You can pretty much guarantee you are going to lose that game.

Weird!

I'm about 12 years into my game with Celtic so 90% of the players in the game are now regens and the furthest I've got is the last 16 of the CL.

I've sold big so now I just need to spend big but attracting players is a problem!

That's the problem with the Scottish system. Even in their top tier you cannot attract the talent. I have to say, I do enjoy the challenge however. I managed to get Ayr into the Premiership and the only way I could compete in the CL was to develop my own players from 15/16. As Celtic you have top facilities so you should be able to train your youth players very well, but as Ayr I had to first develop my back room and training facilities which took years.

The thing to do is to find really high potential youth players, which don't cost a packet. From the likes of South America and such like. For some reason the work permit requirements are different in Scotland to England, so you seem to be able to attract the youth players easier. I managed to find world class players this way in my save. Some I couldn't keep hold of but I ended up selling them for a huge profit, and by huge, I mean £10,000,000+. I was able to compete this way, but it was by and large a challenge, even at that level.

I've done the same with Celtic, bought numerous youth players from South America and I sold 2 last season for £25M each. I've got £44M to spend and 300k worth of wages to spend but I just can't get anyone thay would improve my team and squad. If they're top players they always moan about wanting to move to a team that could win the CL.

Do I or don't I? £25m for AC Milan's Gianluigi Donnarumma in summer of 2018? He's 19 years old and worth £325k!! :D He's yet to make a first team debut for AC Milan by the looks of things but spent 2016/17 on loan at Bari where he made 36 appearances, conceded 39 goals and kept 10 clean sheets.

AC Milan initially wanted £41m but I got them to agree to £25m when they said £31m. Is he worth it? Still got De Gea at Old Trafford and got Ron-Robert Zieler back as my backup GK. Sergio Romero, Sam Johnstone and Victor Valdes are long gone.

You can get him for 2.5M at the start of the game :p

Yeah, I feel your pain. I guess it's club/competition reputation, which is probably realistic. But the money you can invest in your club is incredible. I didn't even get that with Ayr, and I got them into the quarter finals of the CL :D

Got offered £30M for a 4 star central defender who has a rating of very high in the 7s and is only 22 years old. The board accept on my behalf (even though my club is loaded), naturally I protest the transfer and it's cancelled but why can you only protest once? Ridiculous isn't the word.

Bit of a back from the dead, thread. Last post 13th April. But i really need to rant.

Haven't played much over the past 2 months or so, but had a week off work so i've been smashing it this week. Now, 2 years in a row, I've been over 10 points clear at the top of Serie A at the end of January with Inter, only to go and absolutely throw it all away through January and February. i honestly don't know what it is. Last season i was changing formation quite regularly, (all were full familiarity) and i'd just stop scoring, dominate games, having 20+ shots, 4/5 clear cut chances, and losing 1-0.

This year, I'm sticking with one formation generally, but again, i'm just starting to lose points against teams I should be beating.

Just so damn annoying. it's not tiredness, i'm out of the Italian cup, i'm out of Europe, i just can't put my finger on it! I've had a team meeting telling them to get their ****ing act together which worked for one game, but other than that, it feels like I give the same 'AGGRESSIVE - That wasn't good enough' speech after each and every game; of course, they're always 'fired up'.

On that note, there should be a level above aggressive, enraged for example, which you can only use on the odd occasion. Where i don't know, you lock them in the dressing room for hours, screaming and shouting at them, fining them a weeks wages, putting their training on 'Fitness-Very High' for a week, insulting their mothers etc. etc.

Don't have a go at your players all the time or their morale will plummet and you'll go on the sort of run you've seen.

If you're undeservedly lost a game then try to encourage them instead, only getting fired up if they've actually played uncharacteristically poorly or something.
