Football manager 2016

Ok, I just purchased football manager 2016 Touch from steam. I am going to play on my laptop. My usual thing is to start with a non league team and try to get them promoted.

Has anyone tried the create your own team option? Just curious about how it works.

Not quite non league but I'm trying to take Wimbledon to the top.

I love FM but I'm struggling for time this year and not really played much at all sadly. Deepest I'm in is only Wimbledon and that's third season.

I am really struggling to find consistency of any kind at the moment. My first save was with Brighton. Got promotion through the play-offs, signed a few really good players but got absolutely battered.

Started again as Liverpool, and just get results like in real life. Dominate one match, get smashed in the next. What sort of tactic seems to work better for Liverpool? I don't want a link to download one, but I have tried the 4-2-3-1 and also flipping that into a 4-1-2-3.

Also tried 4-4-2, 4-4-1-1, through 2 different saves. Arranged extra friendlies to make sure all players were match fit. I won my first game 2-1 against Utd then lost the second 6-0 against Spurs! What in the blue hell is going on?!?!

Been playing the games for over half my life now! Annoying I cant get anything sorted in this one.

It's tough mate. The key is a quality striker, a complete striker imo. I play 4-4-1(AMC)-1(Complete Striker).

Best tactic I've found.

Ah, I remember now why I got fed up with this game. Injuries are stupid. I am with Wrexham, haven't even played my first challenge game yet. In the space of a week I have 11 first team players injured, shortest injury is 4 months. Sorry, one is 5 weeks but I had to pay a specialist to get it reduced to that.

10 long term injuries!! and in a non league team. This is the annoying crap that made me quit the game a few years ago and it looks like it's still the same.

This is exactly the point I was trying to make above, when I got shot down. As a fan of flight and train sims I fully understand the need to support the small developers, but not at any price and not if they get it wrong. (As N3V are now finding out with their latest botched version of Trainz, all but the most ardent fanbois are turning against them).

Having to play your reserves or even raid your youth team just to field enough players is not particularly realistic or fun entertainment... :)

you must be unlucky or playing unfit players, pretty sure I've never had 11injuries at the same time in 700hours let alone all long terms.

I just started my game, only a week in and then all the injuries happened, didn't even play a friendly!! I have never got that many injuries before either, but I do remember that my main frustration with the game was the excessive amount of injuries. I can't imagine that non league teams get that many injuries.

How is it going for you? I love the challenge and the reward of getting a lower league team promoted.

I do sort of agree with your issue about price. They are basically incremental updates each year and getting charged full price. On the other side of things I have no problem paying full price ever couple of years because I know I will spend a lot of time on the game and it's well worth the price.

Despite my terrible injury crisis :) I have started the season pretty well. 2 wins and 2 draws in my friendly matches and 1 win and 1 draw in the league.

The way I like play is to take a look at my team and pick a tactic that gets the best players in their best positions. Well as near as possible. Then I hit the transfer market to fill in the gaps. I stick to the same tactic the whole season. I change the passing, tackling and mentality based on the team I am playing.

Just want to say FM16 touch is very good. Way better than FM2012. The only thing I don't like so far is that you have no input to the clubs you are affiliated to.

Just started again with Port vale currently sitting in 22nd place finding it really hard to win games have no budget to bring in better players but there are a few decent players who i have manged to get from u21s.

Need to find a solid formation and tactics to use but nothing seems to work out atm.

How is it going for you? I love the challenge and the reward of getting a lower league team promoted.

first season I won league two with a few games remaining.

Second season after getting a few quality free transfers went up in the playoffs.

Third season in the championship I've only just started I won one game 5-0, drew a couple of games 1-1 and 0-0 then got smashed 4-1 so mixed so far.

Problem I've had (and I've found it a theme running through fm games) is if you get promoted too fast the game doesn't keep up. By that I mean I have a reputation worse than 21 of 24 league one teams and I'm a championship side. I have a weekly salary budget of 70k and 19 of the 24 teams have just two players who can top my entire weekly budget. I understand clubs don't go completely bonkers when getting promoted but I find the lag too pronounced. On top of the rest of my problems most my contracts expire this summer and if I do stay up I'm not sure that my budget will be revised up for the next season in time for me to resign and not lose half my squad on a free (because whilst clubs lag player demands go through the roof as you move up leagues)

Well done. Going well so.

And totally agree. If I go up two leagues in 2 seasons then sponsors and players should be more excited then if it took me 10 years to get there. The team got there so quick either because they were playing in a league way below their standard or the manager has made a huge difference. And if he can get a team to the championship in two seasons on a low budget imagine what he could do with some decent funding.

But in Football manager, crowds barely go up, players have no more interest in playing for you then when you were a league 2 team. The funniest rejections I used to get were from players on teams demoted from league 1 to league 2 when I was in the championship. They would rather play in league 2 than play in the championship :) It never seemed to change no matter how long I stayed up. And I was hoping that they would have improved this part of the game in the last four years :(

Well after reading some of the reviews at Amazon, I've taken the plunge and bought off Steam. Could have got the disc version £5 cheaper at Game, but I had a £15 gift voucher on Steam I'd forgotten about which brings the net cost to me down to £19.99.

Will let you know how I get on with Darlington (do they still exist???!!!).

I'm not 100% sure how they calculate rep but my idea for doing it would be each club has s base rep defined by past success, recent league performance etc etc. I then think league rep should be added on separately to top it up.

An example, Portsmouth are in league 2 and stay there, Hartlepool get promoted to league one. The next season Portsmouth have a higher base rep still but when you add the league modifier plates are more likely towns up at Hartlepool and they have better crowds/budget.

I keep experiencing crash dumps and freezes which is very unusual and very frustrating. I reported it to SI a fair while back, but was hoping the 16.3 patch would remedy it. I might have to remove all the mods I've got installed and see if it happens then, but the mods add such a lot to the game :-(

Stupid question but how do you exit from match play or FF to the final result? I started a match yesterday evening but SWMBO decided she needed the PC. However I couldn't see any way to skip to the end and she had to wait for the 10 mins or so of highlights to play out.

what is the story with the circles for the various roles in FM 2016 touch? They don't seem to make any sense. I have one player who is midfield centre. It's his best position, yet there is no role that suits him. I can play him as a deep lying playmaker and that fills 3/10 segments of the circle and that's his best role as CM. But I can play him out of position on the right of the midfield and if I make him an attacking winger as his role all 10 segments are filled and its bright green.

I thought maybe he just had to play in certain role for a while and he would improve, but, nope, hasn't changed a bit.

There is a few players on my squad like that. The roles don't seem to match the position.

Is the player a natural midfielder though? He might be a natural right winger but has been played out of position. Either way that doesn't sound completely correct in your game. Lots of things determine how 'natural' a player is at a certain position, including hidden attributes like adaptability and such like. Also, are they left or right footed, and how strong is that foot. Things like that effect natural position.

In your case, if he is showing bright green as an attacking winger, there is no way he will also be a natural DLP. They are obviously completely different roles.

I guess what I am trying to say is how can the game say the guy's best position is central midfield if he has none of the attributes necessary to fulfill any role in the centre midfield.

One of my defenders is the same but at least he can play on the right and in the centre, he is a natural in the centre and unconvincing on the right. But, his best role is Limited full back defend. Again, how is a guy a natural central defender if all his attributes point to him been a full back.

does anyone else get excessively high numbers of injuries during games? I have 9 first team players out on long injuries. Almost makes me want to stop :(

See one of my posts above. I got 10 long term injuries in the space of a week. I hadn't even played a game, was in the first week of managing my new club.

It is very frustrating.
