For Sale: Newcastle

NoTW have jumped on this story like:

Shearer's walking away

and

Newcastle will go into admin if loans not paid by Friday

Just two of the stories in what I assume will be an NUFC special.

I wonder how long it'll take before the fans are blamed for this new instability.

Prior to this I thought Newcastle would have been fine tbh. I would have thought it would have been in Ashley's interests to spend a bit of money to try and take Newcastle straight back up and if he still wants to, sell then.

As it is now, they could be in huge trouble. Even if they can find buyers for some of their top earners, they're going to end up paying for their wages for a couple of seasons.

Exactly, its stupid.

The fans are longer on his back (because of Shearer) so all he needed to do was appoint Shearer, spend a bit of money and take us up to the PL again in one or two seasons.

Then, as you say, sell when we're back up.

It's mental, but what we've come to expect from Newcastle....

I predicted all this would happen. Administration is on its way for Newcastle.

I doubt administration is on way though.

Two things could happen:

a) Ashley stays and so he'll have to pay off some of the overdraft or whatever, or risk losing his whole investment, or

b) New owners will come in, who have to pay off the debts (because its in a contract with Ashley or something along those lines).

That is what I thought.

Newcaslte would go down, get rid of all the dead wood, bring in all new staff, bring through some youngsters, buy in some decent talent and settle at a reasonable wage bill.

Promoted back after some time in the championship hopefully, back to being a **** premier league time :p * I kid, please don't shoot me.

Can honestly say, not at one point did I think Newcastle were in that much trouble, they could go the same way Leeds went, but Ashley only has to fork out maybe for one season, should be back to "normal" really.

Hi there,

You say that as though promotion would definitely happen within a couple of seasons... ;s.

I'm sorry if you interpreted it that way but I did say that's what he needed to do to solve his problem.

As for coming back within 1 or 2 seasons I don't see it being so unreasonale as a prediction, especially if money was spent.

ouch. and 40 miles down the road steve gibson is making debts dissapear into thin air

newcastle really are in a tough spot moneywise with all those high earners that are worth nothing because of age / lack of form.

I doubt anyone would want to buy Newcastle in their current state, plus why should Ashley sink more of his (rapidily decreasing) cash into them when administration would allow them to restructure financially and clear a lot of their debts.

Administration is the logical conclusion for Newcastle as they stand at the moment.
