When you read the title, did you think I was trying to sell an actual 360, or just the box for one?

Neither I thought "Why is this pillock trying to sell an XBox in GD", then I noticed who had started the thread and that they would know better, read it properly and assumed it would be a thread about the scammers who sell empty boxes on Ebay :p

lol, you fell for it on ebay, didnt you?!

by the way, WWGDD is my new signature...like it/lump it :p

Cheeky barstewards.
In truth, I swapped for an old laptop case that could hold the 360 nicely. It's got a couple of tears but is excellent other than that.

There's no intention to scam here, I'll make it clear im selling a box, there will be no pictures or description of the console itself and the title will be exactly what it is on this thread. Buy it now will be a whopping £170.

Well as long as you are honest. If you don't want an xbox 360 box and someone else does (why would they  ) then you have every right to sell it to them. But by honest I mean you should make it VERY clear that it's just the box. Big capital letters in the description and the title saying that it does not include an xbox 360.

But will you actually do that or are you just hoping to con some poor unfortunate guy out of his money?

This shows that you've got no morals at all, quite frankly.
So you'll be quite happy when you sell it knowing that the buyer has been conned? You're no better than the guys you see on Watchdog screwing old grannies out of their life-savings with some quick words and cleverly written contract.
*edit* unless, of course, the buyer actually WANTS to buy an empty box. Good luck finding that buyer, and if you do, send him my way, as I have some bottled air to sell.

As for that title I find that core-system bit misleading and distracting, drawing attention away from the all important box keyword.

Try this: For Sale: Xbox 360 box - BOX ONLY. Xbox not included

Something like that would still appeal to anyone who actually wants the box, but avoid confusing people.

Yeah, just imagine the person recieving that and their reaction, I'd be pretty upset as £200 is a lot of money. Most people can't afford to chuck money away like that.

If there too dumb to read, then they deserve an empty box!

he's doing a perfectly legit sale...

It's down to the buyers brain in the end!

Obviously, but Tru is already feeling guilty about someone paying xbox 360 system money for an xbox 360 box and he hasnt even listed it yet or he wouldnt have made this thread in the first place, so its down to his morals really.

What he really wants is lots of people to reply "yeah do it, its their problem if they pay over the odds for just a box, screw em" so that he feels justified about listing it and taking the money.

Capitalise the word box.

The Core and Posh systems have different boxes, therefore it's essential.

I'm not hoping to con anyone, but I wont lose any sleep if I do.

I didn't see HE was going to cleverly word his ad, I'm saying he's no better than the scum-bags that do.

Regardless, he's trying to sell something that the buyer isnt expecting, and that to me is a big no-no.

Shenanigans, of course you are or you wouldnt put a buy it now price of £170, this in itself is deceiving.

Keep telling yourself its not a scam as much as you like, but it still is regardless because of your intentions. If you're happy with it, go for it, but dont expect everyone to pat you on the back.

If you think that someone is genuinely interested in acquiring a used box then go for it.

Although when posting the auction you should say to yourself ... "Am I a dirty great big dishonest Nigerian-wannabe scammer? Why, yes - I do believe I am..." becasue then you are at least being honest with yourself, even if you are trying to lay a scam on someone else

Not so, really. The reasons for the thread are twofold. 1) It was a test run for the auction title. 2) I desperately wanted to use the "What Would GDesus Do?", line.

dude, where you call me and Belmit cheeky, i believe that can get you a sus because it's trying to hide it...just in case :)

Yes well done you are very clever for thinking that one up. Trick some poor folk, probably inexperienced with computers, probably middle aged and probably looking for a present for their kid into paying lots for nothing. Your the BIG MAN!

Just put it up with that title, clearly state it is the box only with no other misleading info and don't put a buy now price.

You have done nothing wrong, you have put an accurate title, description and nothing misleading at all. If someone goes "OMGWTF" and bids before reading or thinking then it will teach them a life lesson wont it :p
