Yes well done you are very clever for thinking that one up. Trick some poor folk, probably inexperienced with computers, probably middle aged and probably looking for a present for their kid into paying lots for nothing. You're the BIG MAN!

Quoted for sincere illustration of the truth

Being inexperienced with computers, middle aged or looking for a present does not mean you are unable to read :D

Edit: People saying why would you want the box, the box can often add value to something or someone might need it to ship it securely.
Unboxed items are almost always less, for example the CM ATC cases lose about 25% of their value if they dont have the original box.

How's about this auction.
That's very interesting. I notice it was pre-release which would explain the outrageous winning bid. The guy couldn't make it any clearer it was a home-made box he was selling.

I say go for it Tru and see what happens, forget the numpties in here thinking your purposely scamming someone lol:p. If you word it properly then the onus is on the bidder to read the auction carefully, as long as you dont in any way imply that your selling a console with it:).

Unless they are blind and cant see the screen and have to use braille lol:p. But seriously cant be helped if some people are that stupid to not read the whole auction before bidding on the said item.

its theft, whichever way you try and parcel it up in technical terms

Does theft mean something else on your planet or have you misread my intentions?

The Core and Posh systems have different boxes, therefore it's essential.

I'm not hoping to con anyone, but I wont lose any sleep if I do.

Ok then include that, I thought that was irrelevant data. But empahsise the word BOX. It's easy to ensure you don't con anyone. Capital letters all over the joint saying that it is a box not a console.

What are you selling this box for? Is anyone really going to want it? And is the price you expect for it really worth the cost, or is your subconscious already counting the cash you might make from some poor sod who misreads your advert?

I'll be blunt here and say that it sounds to me like you're hoping you'll con someone and trying to get us to justify it. I apologise if I'm wrong and you can prove me wrong by making your actual ebay thread extremely clear and make it 100% obvious that it is just the box.

It's all very well to call anyone who doesn't read the fine print stupid and cheerfully take their money. But all you've done is steal someones money. Does the fact that they're "stupid" matter? If I wanted I could probably goto the care home up the road and con the residents out of a few hundered quid. Because they're old and mentally disabled does that make it ok?

That last sentance only applies if you are actually trying to con someone... I'm just making my feelings clear on the subject since I have no way of knowing what your true intentions are.

its a well known "scam" if you can call it that :)

I read the title and knew it was a box.

no matter how well known this scam is it still fools some fool or 2.

If you are doing this cap your limit at something reasonable say £20. I mean its not a nice feeling to spend a pile of money to find out you have been conned (even if its through your own stupidity).

If you must sell this please don't make someone pay over the odds for nothing.

No, although if deceptively worded someone who knows nothing about consoles might consider the brand name for the console to be "X-Box 360 box"

Edit: People saying why would you want the box, the box can often add value to something or someone might need it to ship it securely.

THank you for your abstract comment on the box economy, although you failed to address why someone would want a single box shipped to them at greater expense (due to posteage and packing) than puchasing one from a shop...

It's more like fraud - obtaining money or goods by deception

edit - although if you make it perfectly clear I suppose it technically isnt.

So its okay to confuse people who are stupid?
Is it okay to make them think they are getting more than they are if they are stupid?

Now to me the person who bid that amount for AN EMPTY BOX needs to taken out and shot thoroughly...seriously....:p...unless the bidder likes to pay $600 for an empty box:p

I just read the auction myself and in big capital letters its says its the box only, no console...no nothing other than an empty box.

So to me the person who put the auction up cannot be held responsible for someone placing a stupid bid for an empty box can he??.

where's the deception though!? if he clearly states it's a box, there's no problem. some of you need to unbunch your panties and take your ritalin.

I must be one of the numpties then because he certainly sounds like he is trying to mislead some poor person into parting with a large chunk of their hard earned cash under false pretences.

You say your not trying to scam someone yet your putting the buy it now price at £170  Having such a high price is bound to make people think it is the real thing.

Methinks Tru would be one of the people who complain about a trader on eBay if they had given him less than 100% service...

I say that Tru should post his auction and then see how he feels after if it has ended...

I doubt he intends to make it particularly clear.
