So if Tru were to put in the box at a fixed price he determines then it would be ok?

That rather depends on what he sets the price at, wouldn't you say? A fixed price sale of £9.99, with no bidding allowed, would be fine.

How about you convene a quick think-tank and brainstorm a title and description for me? If you lot can agree on the details, I'll use it in an auction.
Naturally this will be subject to an extensive consultancy fee.
Somthing along the lines of: 'Consultancy for xbox box related auction selling tactics'.

Of course thats a vague description, so you may not actually get what you want...but thats the name of the game after all.

Just finding out what your moral standpoint was on this. I wouldn't be bidding on a Xbox or the box that it used to be in but I was curious about where your line is drawn.

Nice U-Turn, but anyone with half a brain knows what your real intentions were before you made this post.

My moral standpoint is I don't think he should auction it at all, because 99% likely anyone that buys it won't realise it's just a box.

I don't think we are, if Tru really intended to rip people off(assuming I interpret your interpretation correctly*) then why bother to post on here asking about it. I'm pretty sure you would just go ahead and list the auction. Posting this thread to provoke a reaction even without the intention to create the auction seems exactly the sort of thing to appeal to a mischievous sense of humour.

*way too much supposition in this post.

I've not made any u-turn, I've already stated exactly what my intentions were by posting this thread, they haven't changed.

Title: Microsoft Xbox360 Core BOX ONLY auction. (haunted)

Description : This auction is for an Xbox 360 Core package box. The box does not contain an xbox 360 in any way/shape/form and should only be considered as a piece of cardboard that used to house an xbox360. it is said to be haunted with the ghost of its previous resident, and holds magical powers. the owner will incur +1 agility and cloaking powers. Not suitable for children under 5/people with cat allergies.

Now this I like. Although I'm not sure if claiming it's haunted (afaik it's not, I've had it about a month and there's been no notable increase in paranormal activity) is morally bankrupt or not?

Based on Sic's description you could remove a couple of unnecessary lines to give

Leave the final line in for comedy value or not as you choose :)

another example of Tru's plot falling into place...

you're painting a picture of Tru as some brazillian drug baron who's just discovered an excellent way to make an extra buck, so he's got little phillipino (sorry dirtydog, couldnt be bothered to check the spelling :p;)) kids churning these things out at 10,000 a day for 7p per kid.

wait a sec, i like that picture of Tru. maybe he'd carry a knife and have a harem too. the possibilities are limitless :D

It's dishonest and you know you're doing it. It is the buyers responsibility to make sure htey know what they're buying but you know you're effectively conning them.

as long as you state its a box you are doing nothing wrong the buyer can word it how they want as long as there is a section clearly stating what you are selling , it then becomes the buyers fault for not fully reading , as it is there responsiblity if they are going to be buying a product

Basically you are trying to scam people. no one would buy or have use for just the box. Putting a Buy It Now price of £170 is just going to make people think they are getting an actual 360.

What category are you putting this into?

Boxes or XBox 360 I wonder?

Hopefully some Keyboard Warrior will ruin your auction with fake bids and lose you the listing fees.

I think Xbox accessories is more accurate than both of those.
