Dont underestimate the value of getting a regular protein intake throughout the day.

Im sure some people will say a lot of it is about which gear you're on but that stuff aint for me. Good luck to u if it is for you.

I do get a regularly intake of protein throughout the day. I take my diet very seriously ;)

...and thats the first time I've heard Creatine referred to as "gear"!

True story I swear...

One young lad was asking me about training, supp's, etc. He told me he'd bought some protein from Holland & Barrett but the woman serving had refused to let him buy the Creatine. She said he was under 18 and thus could not purchase 'steroids' :D

Just for future reference, if Im talking about gear I mean: "Anabolic Steroids
Anabolic Steroids can only be sold lawfully by a pharmacist to someone with a doctor's prescription. Possession without a prescription isn't illegal, but supply is against the law and Class C penalties apply. Use for sport is also prohibited. Most are injected, but some can be swallowed. They are similar to and include the male hormone testosterone."

If Im talking about suppliments I would generally mean food and vitamin suppliments.

If u read this page from the top you will find 2 places where my terminology has caused confusion. I just thought anyone who's been to a gym for a significant amount of time would know the lingo.

Disclaimer, just cause I know the lingo doesnt mean Im a user. In the gyms Ive trained in in the past however it was fairly common. As I said before its up to individual choice in my book.

When i was at uni a lass at uni asked about the shakes i was drinking, when i told her it was Whey protein she asked, "That's like steroids isn't it?"

My mate got asked for ID when he was buying some whey from H&B a while ago, I really was quite confused.

The weirder thing is the fact he looks a lot older than he is, with a deep voice and loads of stuble etc.

(This did happen I was there)

Well all I would conclude from it is that the shop assistant doesnt have sufficient knowledge of the products they are selling; since whey is just a synthetic protein with a better utlilization rate than the top natural product i.e. eggs. Consequently it doesnt need to be regulated as filthy cigarettes do.;)

May as well chuck a few numbers in anyways.

Current weight: 132lb (60KG)
Height: 5'4"

Squat (smith): 8x95KG
Bent over row: 10x54KG
Bench: 8x65KG

Start deadlifting again today, probably going to have to start really low though but nevermind.

I know I know, I don't have a choice at the moment though.

Going to incease calories a little, although I haven't gained or lost any weight and my lifts are increasing.

Whey is not synthetic and eggs are 100% bio available once cooked, no other protein can claim that, not even whey.
What is the general consensus on smith machines?:)
Very handy.... for hanging clothes on etc

One comes out a chicken's behind and the other comes in a tub. Its getting boring being misunderstood in such idiotic ways. I dont think it matters whether eggs are cooked or not, the chart I saw said eggs were the must readily used source of protein from natural sources and that whey protene exceeds this (if Im wrong please link me to your source). I think my point was that its not illegal to sell to under 18s and Im not interested in holding a stupid argument over semantics.

for the fun of it:

i think that i have found the cause of my forearm problems. have been trying a few more exercises recently. most are ok. shrugs are fine, so would be tempted to start deadlifting again.. then i did some ez bar curls, nothing overly excessive, *twang* :/
weird thing is, DB curls are fine!
going ot have to let this pain die down for a week (seems to be about a week each time!).

some good news.... im down to 18.5 stone now, intend to be 18 stone by end of october at the latest!

Nice progress. Have you set yourself a long term target for your weight loss?

I don't touch any bar for my biceps any more. If I use anything other than dumbbells my arms feel like they're going to snap :(

looks like its getting that way for me, straight bar got annoying, now ez bar the same. no major loss tbh :D

long term goal for weight loss - none.
i have never had a problem with the actual amount i weigh (well, i did when i was over 22 stone!) while i am active. more interested in the long term fatloss.
would be happy sitting at 18 stone and 10-12%bf, but that is going to take some serious time. i think that a good amount of what i am losing atm, is muscle. have no doubt that my strength is dropping like a stone as well atm :/

not done a DL or squat in months!! :/

You'll be surprised Morba, I think you'll still be a lot stronger than you actually think. Of course Strength would have dropped, but there's ALWAYS time to get back in the gym and bring yourself back up to the level you were at. Whilst I was out of training recently that's what I had to keep telling myself. Now I'm back in training my strength has shot back up and I'm feeling good.
