For the gym rats

Very nice lifting megatron, I doubt i'd even be able to get that off the floor. I blaim my size and weight (i'm not giving excuses, honest).

:D

Going to give some preacher curls a whirl today instead of the usual barbell shizzle.

Had a massive headache yesterday when doing my chest so really skimped on the weights, forced myself to do at least a little though, I can't stand doing nothing.

Just got back from the gym, I did a 6 or 7 total reps of 180kg deadlift. I came back and found this in one of my firefox tabs and it tickled my funnyrib (funnybone?):

Its the presentation I find funny not the actual scene depicted:

That's some good lifting Megatron, how much do you weigh? I thought I was doing well with my 8 reps of 110kg at 85kg body weight.

Thanks, Im 82.7kg or 13st. I said "total" meaning not all reps are done at once. Ive not really attempted to do more than 2 at once.

I don't follow...

Its physics, if u have a long spanner its easier to tighten a nut to the same torque as a spanner with a short handle. Your legs wont have the same torque on them as a lanky geezer would and you dont have to lift it as far up to standing straight.

Im 5'9 and there is a guy in my guy who did 9 plates a side (380kg) deadlift last thursday with his new powerlifting suit and he's taller so its harder for him. This guy is far from a natural I often hear him talk of insulin and his friend admitted to using GH (at 23years old). Im not judging, Im just leveling the playing field. Its a personal choice wether to be natural or not imo.

I still think when you're 5'4 and just over 60KG, it's hard to expect to lift as much as someone who's naturally heavier and taller, your point is true though.

Lee Priest is also 5'4. I was 9st before I started doing weights, an atheletic 9st though.

Im not inspired to try to beat the next guy, but to improve on what I have.

If I went down to your bodyfat lvls though, it would be a different story. Are u making progress at that lvl? U might be ok if u use those suppliments, Ive not really tried them tbh.

Well i've only started back properly this week but before taking a week off good progress was being made. Couldn't push myself in my last workout because of a massive headache, but it's probably a good think to just ease back into it anyways and then progressively increase the weight up and back past what I was lifting.

What do you mean by those supplements? I'm natural if that's what you're talking about :D

It's early days yet for me and a long road ahead. Just looking forward to comparing how I look now with how I do at Christmas time.

they are talking about steroids Wardie, Insulin and GH supplementation will send you into the stratosphere (and maybe the emergency room too). All natural unless going for pro i say.

Going back to those stretch marks you lot were on about, i have them under my arms from BEFORE i ever lifted anything lol, as my biceps grow they are actually improving in look lol. Fact is, and i havent even got 16" bi's yet (nearly :)) but people arent looking at the stretch marks on my arms. If i had 18" in bi's i dont think itd matter if i had 100x the SM's either lol

Ahh I thought so :D

I keep forgetting to try some of that Bio Oil shiznay on my stretch marks, i'll order some when I get home tonight! People just tell me to forget about them and they are in a pretty obscure place anyways, but i'm a vain bugger so you know :p

Oooo i'm looking forward to training tonight. I do however really need to buy some more weight.... i've got a maximum of around 65KG. Yes I know, but it's still enough for me to workout right now, and I do legs at the gym. Could do with the weight for deadlifts though, I am still doing them as i'm still finding them a little awkward, in combination with bent-over rows and chin ups.

I've got no idea of my measurements, I really need a tape measure. They will be tiny though due to my size ha-ha. Still, I guess it's good for tracking progress.

Some impressive lifts in this thread.

I've just moved gyms (last 2 weeks) and now have access to free weights - after 9 months of using the machines.

Wow, this is different  :D

First day after doing squats I could barely walk!

Anyway, hoping to improve on these over the next year.

Bench 10 x 50kg
Squat 8 x 70kg

Bodyweight currently at 73kg (bulking!!). 5'11".

Did I say I loved squats? :D

Fast forward a month and I'm happy with my newbie gains. Now up to:

Bench 8 x 60kg
Squat 8 x 80kg
Deadlift (kind of new to this) 8 x 70kg, 2 x 100kg

In the middle of my creatine off week too and have not noticed a decrease in strength thus far - I think a lot of this is a mental game :P

Carry on lifting that metal guys!

Dont underestimate the value of getting a regular protein intake throughout the day.

Im sure some people will say a lot of it is about which gear you're on but that stuff aint for me. Good luck to u if it is for you.
