For the gym rats

Wardie, you could try squatting against a wall with a gym ball (puts a lot of pressure on quads while keeping back straight).

I don't have one of them, i'm not a women!

Had to cancel my last physio appointment so hopefully I can get in for another (only my 2nd) soon and then try get them regularly as see if it's any help.

It's really frustrating at the moment but i'll do what I can.

they cost £5 from any sports shop, probably 50p from a charity shop ;]
they are also very good to use instead of a bench for DB presses sometimes as well ;]

I'll let you get on with your gaylord balls...

Although I think they do possibly have uses for rehab work. It is slowly getting better though so I think with some more help from the physio i'll get back to best. I hope so anyways..

indeed there must be a knack to it, can have a right battle to get the 40's in a starting position

This isn't a personal dig but I find it incredible that people (in general) who have trained long enough and hard enough to press 40+kgs still haven't worked out a technique for safely getting them up. There's an Irish lad at the gym I sometimes train at on the weekend and despite me showing him the "row and roll" he still tries to swing, curl or manhandle them into place.

My technique is similar to Ultra's. He's done a great job of explaining the roll but its the floor to knees portion that's usually the biggest problem. A deadlift with the DB's at the sides means you have to negotiate them round from the side to in front while sitting down. My technique is to place the DB's at the end of the bench, close together with feet either side of them. Get in a bent over row position and pull/row each DB from the floor onto your thighs. Sit down on the bench then do the roll.

If you can't row the same (if not more) weight as you press then you've just exposed yourself as a bicep boy!!! :p:p

I don't have one of them, i'm not a women!

That's the spirit lad!! :D

no problems with getting them onto the knees and sitting
its the rolling back i tend to mess up

more of a tricep boy :p

theres a guy at my gym who squats while standing on the gym ball (no weights) looks hard

still gay tho

I find it relatively easy to get them up - it's usually the first rep that I find hard

What I do (certainly on incline) is sit up and as I roll back I flick my knees up against the DB to put some momentum behind it to get them in place one at a time. Works quite well for me, but ours only go up to 40kg :( I'm starting to do VERY slow reps now to try and exploit them as best I can.

Do the V-Diet m8, sod the walking, ive shed about a stone and a few more weeks i hope to have abs, well worth a 2 month torture plan, no muscle loss that i can see either.

EDIT quick snappet @ 205lbs

And yes love handels are the baine of my life, shrinking slowly tho

Am I reading this correctly.......only shakes, no actual proper food intake? Or have I misunderstood?

V-diet sounds lame and a waste of money. No need to drink protein shakes all day. I've burned fat and still ate a lot during the day. Just be more active and make your cardio sessions as intense as you can.

Took a few months to drop the fat. I didn't do any extreme diets, I ate a lot of clean foods and ate when I felt hungry. Its all about cardio and watching what you eat. No need for this torture like diets, unless you're getting ready for a bodybuilding contest.

After - Before.

My obliques stick out, those aren't love handles.

You were hardly at UE's levels of BF before you started though were you ;) Totally different body types too. I'm not saying that the V-diet is a good idea (I too am a little dubious about a liquid only diet) but your experience is pretty far removed from UE.

Anyways.........

Just ordered 10kg of whey from MP, 100g creapure and 300g OAKG. I've not had any serious supplementation at all this year. Just whey, good food and the occasional dose of AAKG for the ego boosting pump ;) Been taking multi-vits, oils and glucosamine but consider those health rather than performance supps.

Hoping the creatine and OAKG will help maintain performance and muscle mass as I start to drop cals with increased cardio (ie. no cardio --> some cardio :p) Had a couple of bouts of disturbed/poor sleep too, probably psychological rather than physical but if I can benefit in bed I'll be happy ;) Giggidy!

And the recovery will be a big help - injured ankle recently, old back injury has come back for a couple of minor visits and reoccurring problems with trap tears have meant I've not been 100% recently. I know CW and Wardie have taken/are taking OAKG, what's your recovery experience like? I was considering a short cycle of GH to fix the muscle damage but I'm not prepared to jab just yet ;)

I always thought it was around 10g minimum per 100kg of bodyweight? 20g seems a little excessive.

Will you be taking magnesium and zinc in the evenings too MTA?

Me before V-Diet

And i mean yeah, dude, if you naturally looked like the first pic then 'just' dieted to the second pic, then nice one, but you cant compare that to me, i mean i dieted from 18st to the pic in this post at 17st i was eating clean. But to knock me down to my current bf level (which is still high by comparison) i did the V diet. For someone with your bodytype i dont think an extreme diet will ever be the way to go.

Sorry that's more sensible yeah. Personally i'm dosing with 20g for my first few days, and then 15g from then on to make sure I get the most of it (since i'll only be using it for 5 weeks max).

I took a snap yesterday, give me a minute...

First off I believe GH will be useless for what you want, or next to it... also the price for the good stuff is high and also you need to take for quite a while to get good gains, so short cycles are a no, no.

I'm far from an expert on such matters though, that's just the opinions I've had from people who use it.

I don't think you 'll get the most of the OAKG with 300g, you need 500g really. Though it's an expensive supplement so I can understand you wanting to just test the water. With that amount I'd take 20g on training days and 10g on rest days. So 5g every morning and every night before bed and on training days take 5g pre and post workout aswell. This should allow you 3 weeks worth... though just as it's kicking in you'll run out.

Ideally you want 500g and run it at 20g per day for 4 weeks. Be warned though the strength gains at that dose are addictive :)

EDIT - Get over to http://www.esnpro.co.uk there's loads about it on there ;)

Nope but had good sleep results with it in the past - MP were all out of ZMA and Zn & Mg

Funnily enough i'd been told the opposite if you're talking about recovery rather than mass gains. Know a guy who competes in amateur comps (around 16st shredded) and he uses GH in short cycles during his recovery phases to keep injuries to a minimum. Doesn't do long or large doses because as you rightly say, he can't afford the good stuff!

I've been slowly increasing strength in some areas but picked up these niggling injuries so had to cut back in others. Even if its placebo (ahem Jeff) i'll feel better for *thinking* I'm increasing performance. Hmmmm, might order another little batch then. 500g just looked that bit too expensive in the shopping basket. Really need to be saving money right now (i'll tell you why after the 12th) but this month is turning out expensive :(

Edit: Had a look at Wardie's thread this afternoon ;)
