For those who have STALKER, how does it run?

Im running on xp pro and just installed cat 7.2. The cat control centre doesnt work right but the crashes seem to happen less often but its still unstable.

Apart from that it runs fine almost all settings on max @ 1680x1050 (about 30-50fps) on my 2.8ghz opteron + x1900xt + 2 gig ram.

Maxed out I get 30-60 on my GTS, sometimes it stutters and drops right down, and my system is heavily overclocked and so well-optimised it's not even funny.

If you get steady 60fps+ constantly then I will be impressed beyond belief. :eek:
 
ok i just benched using fraps with everything on max using advanced mode and putting all sliders to the right including AA (even tho it seems ot do nothing ^^). My FPS ranged from 54-120 in the first 5minuted of gameplay which included the outdoors etc etc. If you want screens i can provide :)

Finding this slightly dubious, but if true it does show how much more powerful the GTX is over the GTS. :eek: Really is a shame that a £350+ graphics card is needed to run such a crap looking game at over 50fps minimum though.

I'm really disappointed in how it runs on my PC. I'm using 1680x1050 too.
 
i agree with the game looking dire. I dont see how games like hl2 that were released years ago still surpass almsot all of todays supposed "cutting edge" games. Bring on crytek
 
Pity no aa, otherwise looks good, what fps in 1920x1200 or can't your monitor do that ?

I dont agree its looks pants (apart from no AA) but it certainly isnt any better than any other games, and you need the very top card to run it properley at decent res .. poor coding or engine definatley :(
 
AA works for me. Tho its the ingame setting and it works 50/50 ish quality. CCC aa set doesnt work tho. But i can see aa working.



And fraps is 33fps average while playing at the settings shown in the post above where i show them with pics.

Btw anyone else get artifacts like erm a stretched black poly across the screen or somit, hard to describe. It happens occasionally, after awhile it doesnt tho.

only got myself a dell 2007wfp im afraid tht is my max res :(

I'm not being funny (I am really not, I swear I am being serious) but I don't see any antialiasing in that picture. Are you sure it's not just doing what it does for me and not rendering any even though you turn it up in options?

I get that sometimes, but white and green ones flickering. Sometimes one big green one goes into my crosshairs from the left side of the screen.

I thought it was my GPU dying but I restarted the game and it was gone. :confused:

Yup that's where I noticed it first, and on the bush and mutant's back etc.
 
Well to me most of the scene is non jaggy, and it can be worse when ingame aa slider is down. What i do to check is the dude who gives u missions. I check the jaggies on his arm sides. When slider is fully left its worse jaggies. When slider is right, its better but not perfect. Least its reduced a lot compared to without it. Yes some things have jaggies like thumb. But 99% time i dont look at a thumb :p and most of the time 99% of scene is changing so i never really would notice. Only if im still and really looking for them id notice.

Besides. I heard theres supose to be a patch on the day of release and thats officially tomorrow on 23rd i think. So maybe the patch will fix these problems.

Getting it tomorrow first thing, expect screens/videos and performance figures off my rig :)

1680x1050 / 7950GT 512mb / 2gb twinx / 4200+ x2

I'd say my specs are fairly common for an everyday gaming machine and it's gotta run better than R6 Vegas for sure...

it runs a lot better than vegas for me with my 8800gtx. With shadows on max settings on vegas my machine even lags in places :(
 
Can't wait till I get it. The screenshots look a lot like some of the more atmospheric/eery scenes from HL2. I wonder how much difference dual cores make in this game since I read somwhere that it's multithreaded.
