***FORCEWARE 101.02 WIN2000/XP***

It's weird that some people have no issues whatsoever with any game, while others seem to have loads of problems with everything  .

Maybe it's the kind of games played, as I play mostly FPS and some RPG games.

For the record, these games play flawlessly on my PC with 97.92 drivers:
STALKER, FEAR, COD2, Quake 4, Prey, Far Cry, Painkiller, Serious Sam 2, Oblivion, Gothic 3, NWN2.

The only issue I can think of, is the distance fog glitch in HL2 (which NV and Valve are blaming each other for). I haven't played Supreme Commander, C&C3, or any RTS game, so I can't comment on those.

Nearly all, drivers are abysmal, very poor showing from Nv, 2 official sets in about 5 odd months that are utter crap, and a load of crappy betas, you can see whats more important to them, taking your cash, thats all they interested in, just churning out card after card to make you get yer wallets out, **** the drivers they dont give a ****.

They think im gona buy an 8900/G90 their having a laugh, no point in em as they wont run **** all, and what they do run will be utter rubbish, i dont care if they blow ATi away, least ATi's cards can run games beautifully, all yer can run on Nvidia's is bloody 3DMarks, about the only things that run decent on em.

Yea mate i see your point of view but i still feel the card was well worth the cash, but maybe its just because i only play a few games.

Am I wasting my time trying these with my 6800LE 128MB? never mind the geforce 3 (AGP) in my #2 machine?
WTF, I'll give them a go! :D

Same here I have a GTX using 97.92 on XP SP2, I have had no problems with Prey, Far Cry, FEAR, TOCA3, Trackmania United.

The only issues I have is the Source fog problem and the stutters in Test Drive Unlimited

C&C3 works fine for me on my 8800gtx at 1920x1200 with all details at max,,,
I be trying out Supreme Commander this afternoon as i brought it yesterday.

I just been reading the ATI CAT 7.3's thread on here...It sounds like ATI drivers have enough problems of there own as well....

For the record I've tried COH, FEAR, Farcry, C&C3 demo, HL2, CS:S, Age of mythology, Doom, Quake4, so far with the setup in me sig below and had no probs at all that I can see. No Bsods, crashes, glitches, freezes, nothing, everything just works. Other than stalker, are there any particular games that give certain problems that I could try out (If I've got them) and see if they work or not?
Using 97.44 atm.

Same for me, my only issue is ArmA which im sure doesnt like 8800's. Stalker is lovely on Max settings at 1600x1200.

I've just swithed to a 8800GTS from a X1900XT & most of my games are running fine using NGO 97.92s,get the stutter in TDU still though :(

Just started playing Stalker & it seems to be ok so far,not far into it though

I'll have to try a few different games out & see how it goes

Using XP also and can't say I've had any problems whatsoever with my card. I don't own STALKER but every other game/application I've thrown at it works flawlessly. Not switching to Vista until Service Pack 1/DX10 game comes out, whichever is first.

I don't understand

I sold my X1900XT and upgraded to a 8800GTS 640mb after listening to folks round here (especialy Loadsamoney) Now Loads is saying there **** so why were they so good before, were the drivers a lot better a month ago?

I'm using XP (rig in sig) and playing CSS, BF2, BF2142, Fear Combat, C&C3 and Call of Duty 2. I have yet to install STALKER. And have had no problems with any of these games or have i seen any issue with fog in CSS or any Source game

I am still very impressed with the 8800GTS and i've always been a big fan of ATI cards and i honestly can't see what a lot of you guys are taking about. I do know one thing though, I won't be taking so much notice of recomendations on these forums in future. First i bought a Hiper 580 PSU (still going strong btw) cause everyone on here says there the best only to say there **** a year later. Now i get a 8800GTS as they obbliterate ATI (according to folks like loadsa) at everying and a month down the road there **** to.

Why does my 8800GTS work so well?

They are great, and they do obliterate ATi (when the drivers work) as its the drivers that are bad, not the cards, yes when i first got mine i was well impressed, but once id had it a while, gave it a good testing, i started to find all the faults, but i decided today to stick it back in and try these drivers, and im impressed, Stalker runs better, and my 3DMark 06 was up from 8,641 to 8,803 now :D , looks like these are keepers these drivers, certainly better than the 97.92's.

You know the checkpoint in Stalker, on the way through to garbage (i think), anyway its that bit where you got to the back of the building in the checkpoint and it says about moving to the new area, well under the 97.92's inside that building used to stutter like mad (caused by the ceiling light i think), but on these drivers its much, much better, hardly a stutter in sight there now so definately an improvement, things are looking up at last, hope this Official set that are coming next week are as good as these, or better. :)

I installed these the old fashioned way, just went into the Device Manager, the Display, into the 8800 GTS, then the Driver Tab and un-installed from there, then on restart when the New Hardware Found Wizard came up, i just pointed it to where these drivers were and jobs a good'un, that way you have no issues with your CP, all you have to do is set it back up, actually thought that had gone **** up at first as the Supersampling setting had disappeared, or so i thought, but in these drivers its moved to near the top of the list. :D

Downloading now :) hopefulyl the can take me past the 96xx im sitting at the moment and closer to the nirvana of 10k :D

Anwyays I get stalker soon, so hopefully I wont experience any **** performance :D like i did in the beta

I dont care what anyone on these forums say, my 8800GTX is THE best card bar none. Yes drivers could be better and its a disgrace in vista x64.. forcing me to dual boot xp for games. But its still a fantastic bit of kit. :)

Large slice of humble pie for table 3 :D

The indoor part when you climb down the manhole is hard on hardware, there is one room inparticular that i noticed a big slowdown, very impressive indoor visuals, great lighting effects.

Seem good enough anyways!

Just done some testing and this is strange, if i just start the new area straight away upon loading the game it runs absolutely perfect, belting along, but if i crossover from the area before, by going through the back of the checkpoint again so it does the auto-save bit again and loads the new area, it absolutely dies of death and stutters like****.

Using the 97.42 drivers here. Not getting any problems in any games that are worth writing home about.
Occasionally I get the flickering triangles in Stalker, just restart the game and its gone, seems to happen when the card gets hot, turn my fans up, and its fine.
It also stutters every now and then, especially in crowded areas (usually when I'm getting chased by dogs too  )

No issues whatsoever with SupCom and TDU.

It sounds to me like your card's ram is still full of textures from the previous area, and when you crossover, there isn't enough room for all the new area textures, so it has to hot-swap with system ram, causing stutters. Maybe 320Mb isn't enough for the settings you play at?

I suppose you could always save and reload when you enter a new area, to make sure your card's ram isn't full of stuff from the previous area.
