Sir Random said:It sounds to me like your card's ram is still full of textures from the previous area, and when you crossover, there isn't enough room for all the new area textures, so it has to hot-swap with system ram, causing stutters. Maybe 320Mb isn't enough for the settings you play at?
I suppose you could always save and reload when you enter a new area, to make sure your card's ram isn't full of stuff from the previous area.
LoadsaMoney said:Just done some testing and this is strange, if i just start the new area straight away upon loading the game it runs absolutely perfect, belting along, but if i crossover from the area before, by going through the back of the checkpoint again so it does the auto-save bit again and loads the new area, it absolutely dies of death and stutters like****.![]()
I find it interesting that it's happening for both of you and you both have the 320MB GTS, as I have the 640MB GTS and it doesn't happen to me. Maybe what Sir Random said about it filling the video memory is spot on.Dougsnake said:Exactly the same for me![]()

As for these drivers, they don't improve framerates a great deal for me in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but they do stop it dropping down to 30fps all the time, so I would consider them a partial success and put the rest of my performance problems down to a crappy game engine for the time being.![]()
Go back, read my post, and take note that the first and second paragraphs have nothing to do with eachother.Tom|Nbk said:So the fact its keeping textures from the previous area be a game engine fault?, iv'e noticed the game normally only uses 250mb-300mb maxed. But i do get this problem
