It sounds to me like your card's ram is still full of textures from the previous area, and when you crossover, there isn't enough room for all the new area textures, so it has to hot-swap with system ram, causing stutters. Maybe 320Mb isn't enough for the settings you play at?

I suppose you could always save and reload when you enter a new area, to make sure your card's ram isn't full of stuff from the previous area.

Could be if its not clearing it, as it only uses about 200 odd mb, so maybe its still holding onto that 200 odd mb from the first area, so the next lot from the new area would take it upto 400 odd which i aint got :D , still i dont mind quitting and restarting at the start of a new part. :)

Just done some testing and this is strange, if i just start the new area straight away upon loading the game it runs absolutely perfect, belting along, but if i crossover from the area before, by going through the back of the checkpoint again so it does the auto-save bit again and loads the new area, it absolutely dies of death and stutters like****.

Exactly the same for me  :o think its the game myself :(

I find it interesting that it's happening for both of you and you both have the 320MB GTS, as I have the 640MB GTS and it doesn't happen to me. Maybe what Sir Random said about it filling the video memory is spot on. :(

As for these drivers, they don't improve framerates a great deal for me in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but they do stop it dropping down to 30fps all the time, so I would consider them a partial success and put the rest of my performance problems down to a crappy game engine for the time being. :)

Wonder if theres anymore of that humble pie left. :D

Just realised i forgot to put my Digital Vibrance back up to 11 again, looks much better now. :o

Just installed, updated and maxed all the settings on Stalker and it plays fine. Didn't notice any glitches etc.

Notice your sigs back to 8800GTS Loadsamoney LOL

Careful you don't over do it on humble pie, leave room for your tea ;)

Yeah Stalker runs a lot better on these. :)

Im just about to have some tea now, i hope its not humble pie, i couldn't eat another slice now. :p
Pegasus1 pops another humble pie into the oven, should be ready by the time Loadsa reaches the next level of STALKER. :D

Managed to get these installed and working.... had to format my PC but nevermind. :) Lol. Haven't tried any games atm.

So the fact its keeping textures from the previous area be a game engine fault?, iv'e noticed the game normally only uses 250mb-300mb maxed. But i do get this problem

Go back, read my post, and take note that the first and second paragraphs have nothing to do with eachother.

You have taken my post the wrong way, I wasn't trying to defend the game, Jesus, Ulf you woke up on the wrong side of the bed or is it that time of the month again for you. Have your rolleyes back  .

I am running the drivers that came with the CD now (97.28) and I have just ran TDU, it seems better than these 101.02, inbetween 101.02 and 100.87.

I was running 97.92 drivers and the spec in sig (apart from cpu was at 3ghz) got 10,090. The new drivers gave me a score of 10,239 :D
