Ford Mustang to be released in EU

The configurator is up: http://www.ford.co.uk/ConfigureyourCar/NewMustang/2.3 EcoBoost

No Recaros for UK cars it seems :/ .

Yeah a little unimpressed with the options to be honest, really wanted recaro's with black extra leather interior with red stitching and all the performance upgrades, LSD, 3.73 ratio, Brembo's, larger cooler, larger anti roll bars, magnetic dampened suspension and lowering springs like the US guys get. :(

I'd be out but the fact the car is actually so well priced kind of unsure what to do, the disappointing thing if it can be called disappointing its not a particular quick car due to its porky 1700kg weight, my 911 and M3 are both probably actually faster, but as a complete package it seems a really sorted car, V8, good performance, great handling, great commuter, plenty of toys and great interior and its 35k with options, which is bloody good. Compare that to a BMW M4 for instance and its pretty good value and one thing it has got over the M4 is a stunning engine, the 5.0l coyote is pretty special.

Maybe/hopefully they'll introduce performance upgrade options later on once it's released?

EDIT: As Jester says 6 pot brembos and LSD are included as standard as per the pricelist.

Gibbo,

We do get 6-pot Brembos / LSD as standard. According to the price list PDF.

Yeah but are we getting the entire track pack or just parts of it?

I believe in the US the track pack features larger cooling radiators, larger anti roll bars as well. Also read about magnetic dampers and lowering springs on US cars, again is this part of track pack and standard on UK cars or is UK a variation.

I'd rather buy a car that is how I want it, to add in such options myself, Recaro's alone is probably like £2500-£3000 cost to do separate then all the stuff a few grand for sure.

I love the idea its such a complete car, but I kind of really want it exactly how I want it and when the power is not enough, by such time that comes I am sure supercharger ugprades will come. Still 35k does seem great value for a brand new car, Ford have done a great job on the price, especially considering how weak exchange rates are now, though this price was probably set months ago when rates were much better. :)

I doubt it, only people like me are going to want the make it handle and go faster options.

Stuff like final ratios, magnetic dampers are something UK deals are not probably capable of doing and as such Ford are shipping cars pretty much done from US and is why options is limited. Still why no Recaro option baffles me I mean it is not hard to change seats in a car, any dealer I am sure is capable of changing seats.

Having seen Recaro's in Fords, they are a must, look the part and are damn comfy. :)

A good point well made. They are a little vague on those extra details, maybe they can give you a complete breakdown considering you have the deposit already.

The no Recaro option does bug me, as you've said I would much rather pay to have them from build then add in at a later date.

Compared to M4/C63's the price is amazing considering the kit being offered. It is too good to pass up. Hopefully the configurator is wrong and they missed the Recaro bit off ;)

Maybe in a few years once my 2.5T Mondeo has heavily mileage (18k currently) I may consider getting one. Sure won't want anything slower than what I have now :D

Still....no harm in window shopping/test driving right ;)

I agree, and I look forward to taking a look at these in more detail when they start to arrive in the UK :D

Let's be honest I'd expect quite highly modified 911 and a track prepared M3 to be faster than a £35k car. The fact that the Mustang even comes close is a minor miracle and if it's being help up against a BMW M3 / M4 then it's doing amazingly.

Peerzy, you sure about the quantity / timing or are you basing this off the rumours around when the preorders went up initially?

Seems very low numbers and a very late release all things considered.

Sounds in line with what I would have thought. Ford may well be losing money at this price, and I would think they would want to get LHD/USA production up and running first.

The Magneride dampening is only for the GT350, not the standard Mustang Ecoboost and GT.

No idea why they can't fit Recaros though. The European cars will have it so how is the UK different in that regard?

Will they bring the GT350 over here? I'm thinking now if you should wait until more announcements or just put an order in? The Ford dealer told me that there is still some spaces left so I'm going there later to discuss.

Looks great, and a reasonable price as well it's going to be a tough call between one of these and the focus RS in two years time when the PCP ends on my ST!

The GT350 won't be coming here unfortunately.
