Hi there
My first parts arrived from USA, for items where I am only buy a small item or a single item from a single shop I have already ordered. For my larger deliveries I am trying to buy everything via just one or two shops and then having the shipment sent to my friend who lives in the US, saves a lot on shipping.
So my first deliveries are:
Running pony rear decklid from
http://www.newtakeoff.com/ which cost me $160 shipped/landed (£120 with taxes).
Packaging was superb and its brand new as promised, just a third of the MSRP from Ford direct. For me I do not like the huge round Ford GT / pretend filler cap that UK cars come with, it looks cheap.
Then for wheel spacers I was looking at the 1" (25.4mm) all round spacer for $150 from American muscle and even though hundreds of people are using these on the forum for over a year I was a little worried about what cut backs in quality were made due to their cheapness, though thankfully no reported failures from those running these 1" and 1.5" spacers from there, including track day use.
Still though 1" is fine in the front, 1" in the rear on PP wheels does mean the rear wheels ever so slightly protrude the bodywork unless you dial in some pretty aggressive rear camber.
As such I heard Lenny the owner of
http://www.motorsport-tech.com/ who specialise in making custom spacers for race cars, off-road vehicles etc. in custom sizes with quality guaranteed. Again a few guys are running these spacers with no issue and being custom you can dictate the size.
So mathematically the standard GT PP can go no smaller than 22mm spacer unless you start shaving some material of the stock nuts, which would not be easy to do and I don't actually want to go taking any length of my stock studs. So I had Lenny make me up a pair of front 25mm spacers and a pair of 23mm rear spacers. The quality is supreme and the shipped cost was $360, so twice the money of the American muscle but I've got truly exceptional quality spacers in custom sizing I wanted. These were £280 landed due to taxes. They take him 7-10 days to make and then about a weeks time to ship, they were $260 plus $100 shipping.
Those are my first parts to actually arrive and £400 spent on a car I don't even own yet, crazy I know! But hey I know how I want my car to look and I want to add my own touch to it pretty much the moment I get it along with a decent anti-theft system if they are as easy to nick as Focus RS.
