Ford Mustang to be released in EU

Do you want a 5.0 or a 2.3?

There is a thread on Mustang6G where a couple of Red 2.3's are available now in London from main dealer (cancelled orders). They may have gone quick though so go have a look if you are interested and contact the forum poster for details of which dealer.

If you want a custom order or to pick colour then be prepared to wait. Interesting to note that an order this week has the same estimated delivery date as mine that was ordered beginning of August. I can hope that mine gets here sooner!

Ecoboost F/back in Ruby Red with extra's... due in December
Ecoboost F/back in Race Red with custom pack in stock !

Don't think I'd be able to get used to it being left hand drive, I'd get all confused and keep opening my window trying to change gear.. :D

Test drive booked in for tomorrow lunchtime. Finally getting to drive after 4 months of waiting on the order list. Time cannot go quick enough until delivery now!

Im booked in with TCH in Peterborough. I think their Derby site has some too. I am not sure about others as it was my dealer who emailed me to say they would have 1 starting this week.

Hi there

A test drive of a different kind for me, got an email from www.trackdays.co.uk and simply could not resist:

I have never ever originally driven a true American muscle car, especially one of the true classics, also had a discount code: INC2015 which made it £75. :)

Are they going to let you loose with it properly? Last thing you want is them to restrict how you drive it to the point it renders the experience moot.

Of course they won't but it is not really about being let loose with it, but more about the experience of getting into a true original classic. I don't want to set lap records or do big slides, I just want the experience of driving a true American classic even if it is at 20mph. :)

It's a GT500 - most of the experience is just being sat in it, blipping the throttle and giggling :D

Glad you understand it m8, I've got an M3 for doing epic slides and doing lap times.

American classic muscle is all about the experience. :)

Test drive done and more in love now than when I ordered it. Also got an update and car is Due for build in Feb. Hoping for a delivery in May or June. Dealer also said they have 1 cancellation of a magnetic GT with custom pack but waiting for instruction from Ford if they can sell as cancelled orders are supposed to be matched with people waiting for a car.

Which dealership has that magnetic? Maybe it is same spec as what I ordered. :D

Just not sure I'd want it right now, Winter being here and all that.

Also more feedback on the test drive please, your thoughts, what you like, what is so so and what is bad?

The car is in Peterborough T C Harrison. I have told them that if they can sell it to let me know as Magnetic was my backup colour and I may change to get one 6 months earlier (probably not though)

Test drive was relatively short but gave a good feel for the car. Mix to dual carriageway and smaller roads on an industrial estate. It rode well across all surfaces and was comfortable in standard setup even on the rough surfaces on the industrial estate.

The V8 is great and apart from the glorious sound when you boot it, it was happy just cruising along. 60mph in 6th sat around 1300rpm. Pickup for an overtake in 6th wasn't great at low revs so it needed a drop to 5th or 4th really to make it sing.

Interior was as everyone else reports. Dash is nice and although the moulded stitching is a let down it certainly didn't feel cheap. Seat was comfortable across my rather oversized american style frame and I didn't feel like I was squeezed in. Headroom was plentiful for 6' me.

Cornering was direct and I had a play with the different settings. Normal seemed fine but at slow speeds was a little heavy but it helps to keep the nose where you want it and a damn long nose it is.

Car certainly drew a lot of attention even on a 30 min drive but at no point did it feel uncomfortable or like it couldn't be used daily. Easy to drive around town and when I hit the dual carriageway it opened up nicely and flew like expected.

Unfortunately I don't have a lot of experience in cars of that ilk to compare it to so for me it was always going to be great but having now driven it I know I will be using everyday. Its a nice safe place to be and make you feel at ease driving. The V8 kicks when you want it to but happily just purrs when you need it to. There was no droning or excessive exhaust not internal to the car so I don't think it would be an issue on long drives.

Dash was easy to read and didn't confuse things at all. Big dials for revs and speed made it easy to see what I needed when driving. I didn't play around with the sat nav though but I have specced it onto the car so will find out about that when I go back for another go with the wife in a couple of weeks.

The clutch did seem fairly heavy but is expected really with the engine it is attached to. I didn't stall but changing 2nd to 3rd at speed did jump a bit as I let it go too quickly. It definitely needs some finesse to change smooth but was fine after a few minutes of getting used to it.

The one thing I didn't like was the handbrake being on the far side of the console. Ford not moving it for the RHD makes sense for production but would be better if they had.

Overall I love it and whilst dealer experience is limited, I have managed to gleam more info and have been promised more regular updates. I will certainly be buying the car (assuming no changes to life otherwise) and I look forward to using it every single day. The soundtrack is great but will only get better as I'll probably add an exhaust at some point. The drive is comfortable. It is quick when it wants to and from the dash, it had averaged 32mpg before I got hold of it with the dealer doing a 20 mile economy run (so he says).

Sounds good! :)

6th is an overdrive, hence why it felt flat, geared for around 240mph I think, so only use gears 1-5 when driving around, 6th is purely a cruising gear.

The clutch issue you speak off with the pedal is a well known issue in USA, and to fix it takes two minutes and is free, there is a helper spring in the pedal to make it lighter at expense of feel and linearity, most US owners have removed it and say the car is better without. :)

Currently sat in a US LHD Camero and the handbrake is on right hand side.
