Ford Mustang to be released in EU

hi Gibbo

you are right, but i wouldn't touch the Hellcat (dont like the bonnet) i'd go for the Challenger Shaker, because of the 1970 old style Shaker hood which looks great and if i wanted more power, just fit a Blower..

i'd deffo buy a Mustang yea'.....the mustang would be better on British roads for sure, but probably less comfortable, both of these would be way better than a Type R or any hot hatch, because these are for a much younger driver than me :(

idea 1
i might go to USA on holiday and lease a Challenger for 2 weeks :D

but what is interesting is, that all the Muscle cars are coming back after 30 years absence, because next year there's the new Charger and Barracuda

130mph 1/4 is really quick, the fastest i went in 1984 was 110, pontiac Firebird 400

this was mine, except mine was red with a white vinyl roof, she was about 400 HP, back then that was a lot of HP  it cost £1800 :D

Vanguard motors has got a great reputation and will export no trouble, but to buy from him you'll have to visit and test drive, because all of his are ground up restorations

Didn't see if anyone posted this already.

Yep, the Whipple is easier to install though as nothing needs cutting and you don't need to drain coolant system and car can be returned to stock easily. With the Roush you cannot go back to stock, a Roush is for life. :D

However I can get the VMP kit (same as Roush) just better heads for $6700 shipped to UK which is £4500 or around £5000 with import charges.

But for £5000 for 250-300BHP is incredible value. :D :D :D

Yes is good they are all coming back, and remember for me the Mustang is absolute sheer comfort, compared to the 911 and M3, it has better ride for sure. :)

This is the VMP kit I was talking about:
attachment.php

Nothing else done to the car just the VMP super charger which is based on the Roush, but this is an AUTO car so gets of the line better and better gear changes, he also fitted drag radials which helps with launch.

Still near 140mph is crazy fast, that car is doing 0-100mph in close to 5s, that is supercar territory acceleration.

P.S. The owner of the above truly believes he will be under 10s with improved launch.

i'd much rather build for the 1/4 mile, but you'll get blown away with only 700 to 800 horses in Modified street class ( if you wanted to be truly competitive that is)

you'll come up against an old Cortina mk3 with 1400 horses and he'll be running 8 or even 7s....or even a Cosworth Escort mk1..... or an 900hp EVO

you'll get beaten and really HATE IT and then you'll be totally hooked :D

you'll then need
1.....fully tubbed rear end
2.....full roll cage
3.....big block Ford ( 1700 hp or more)
4.....Wheelie bars/ drag chute

that would be bloody brilliant m8 :D:D:D i really love drag racing, it's brilliant fun

you can of course build a Drag racer that handles like a street car, but to be really quick and to win and have a massive ego, you'll still need loads of horses, if you build a streel legal Drag Car so will i and i hope loads of others here too.... we need another thread soon

140mph is faster than supercar .......... i think, Veyron is about 139 at 10.17 but that is maybe without Slicks !

a Mustang i'm talking about will run 8s but will of course, cost a fortune

2200 HP Mustang running Methanol on Dyno, FLIPPING HECK

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZY-7SR4UCI

Charger on a Dyno, now this is brilliant, 1700hp

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdkhOTHsKis

here you go, a 2000 hp Shelby mustang, now tell me this isn't brilliant

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzLCxlJ3tgs

now this is my fav, it's from a regularly held wheelstand contest at Byron, this Guy is a lunatic, his motor sounds fantastic, it has a very high lift cam and i think it's running Methanol, he'll be kicking out about 2000 HP..... he wrecked his car on purpose just because he could, he rebuilt it 2 months later................so damned awesome, to appreciate this you need the volume full up, i cant stop loving that sound !!!!

Yeah can imagine, and hugely expensive.

Drag racing does not interest me but it is good to see what street cars are running with these kits and to be frank any street car that is running 10s with terminals over 130mph is insanely fast. That is what I want so that when I squeeze the loud pedal in 3rd or 4th at 60mph all hell breaks lose with mind blowing acceleration. My old Mustang did 60-100mph in like 4s, the new ones are doing it in around 3s.

The beauty of the Mustang is they are insanely fast with zero effect on drivability and running cost is hardly impacted by a super charger. I will be happy with 650-750BHP with a car that can handle and put down its power whilst still being a great handling car and looking fantastic whilst sounding like god himself on a bad day. :D

yea, the big problem i'll have is the Coppers, because in the New Forest it's really bad, it's very hard to drive fast without getting caught.

the best way is to have two cars, something really boring for work/shopping and a muscle car for Evenings/weekends only, if not you'll loose your license.

there's something called a ``Street sleeper``, it's a drag racer disguised as a boring street car, but this wont stop you from flooring it and getting caught by a Laser camera police van, because they're everywhere.

Not even close to supercar 1/4 miles, if you're talking competitively.

UGR easily pull 170mph 1/4 mile runs. I haven't kept up recently but I imagine on some of their newer builds they probably flirt with 190.

He was probably referring to what a supercar does it stock from factory. :)

yes i mean stock from factory, what you're quoting is the same as fitting massive twin turbos to a Mustang, just like my videos.

the fastest street legal car in the U.K is Red Victor 3 at 3000 hp, that does the 1/4 mile in 6.4 at roughly 227mph, i havent heard anything this year, but i imagine to go any faster will take a massive investment that's probably beyond him right now.

this is because an American has reclaimed his title as the fastest street legal car in the world, but for Andy to reclaim his title back; will probably require 4000 HP (5.5 Seconds).

i first saw Andy racing at Blackbushe airport in 1985, but back then he had a ``normal`` 350 Chevy Vauxhall Victor.........same colour as now :cool:

imagine driving a 3000hp monster on the road !! because he has, i wonder if he drives it on the road with the Turbo boost turned right down, maybe it's backed off to 1000hp... no idea, or more probably, he doesn't drive it on the road unless he can help it !!!!

yes, he's planning to upgrade the car so he's not been racing this year

It does make me giggle when the Mustang keeps being referred to as a 'sports car' when the likes of Autocar's review say it really isnt. Also, sports cars should not be the size of a 5 series (large saloon), or 6 series / XKR (both GTs).

/ awaits ultra-defensive long-winded reply from Gibbo :p

Is it really the same size as a 5 Series? If so how can anyone say with a straight face that it isn't a big car!?

Well that's where we run into the difference in intended meaning. The whole big car argument started from comments that it's too big to be usable in the UK.

So yes, it is a big car in the same sense that a 5 series or a Jag XK are big cars but they've never been criticised for being too big to be usable in the UK, so nor should the Mustang.

You could make the argument it's bigger than it ought to be and objectively it is a big car but it's not 'too big' as was originally suggested.

Stats from wikipedia:

Length

F10: 4,899–4,907 mm
2015 Mustang: 4,784 mm
So Mustang is roughly 116mm shorter

Width

F10: 1,860 mm
2015 Mustang: 1,916 mm
So Mustang is 56mm wider

So the Mustang wider but shorter than a large saloon car.

Compared to the Jags:

Jag XK is 4,793 and 1,892 respectively (so around the same)
Jag F-Type (a sports car) is 4,470 and 1,923 (a lot shorter)

Caveat: based on Wiki figures - so hopefully measured on a consistent basis.
