Ford Mustang to be released in EU

Some manufacturers don't even like track days.

This may just be an internet rumour, but I've heard that some manufacturers actively preventing people from doing track days?

Anyway, either way I can completely understand why a warranty wouldn't cover track day cover. It makes perfect sense. It's annoying, but that's life.

Gibbo you are such a hero.

If I didn't have my sensible cap on I would join you, plus the missus would hurt me in my special places.

I've only made a deposit, not a commitment to buy. Ford might not allow me to spec a car how I wish, based on outgoing model options I'd want:-

V8 with any power packs if available, talking 450BHP
Manual, though I'm willing to give Fords new auto a go if available as they claim it shifts faster than Porsche PDK, if it feels as good an auto could be option.
Diff ratio option of 3.71, improves acceleration
Bucket seats
Ford handling pack
Shaker 1000 radio
Alcantara interior finish
Grey with 20" silver wheels or orange with 19" black wheels

If I buy new on launch it has to have right options, otherwise it's not worth it unless if represents a clear opportunity to make a profit by sell the car on due to high demand and lack of supply. As Ford are bound to release special editions and more options with time.

This is true,

Those options do sound rather specific as well. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that Ford withholding some elements to offer as special editions.

Do it right they could make a stonking car that everyone would love.

Orange/Black + Manual it would have to be. Even though my Mercs auto is ok the V8 is what makes it bearable and if they had done a manual it would have been spot on. Would love to go for a manual 'stang.

Why would a Ford car be in a 'lack of supply'. It's not that special edition Lamborghini or Ferrari you see on top gear. If anything the least risk in buying new is with as few optional extras and instead go for trim level?

Look at any car being sold used which is a couple of years old now. Like my car e.g., prices on piston heads range from like £10k-25k! Spending money on tones of bespoke options will net you very little.

I don't think that the same rules apply to a car like the mustang as they do to a diesel city car.

Ford are.struggling to meet demand with the fiesta ST so I can see it being much the same for a car like the mustang where they will be converting limited numbers to rhd for our market.

As stated, only 500 to Europe? And then its a far more affordable price.

That's why.

Supply and demand, simples.
500 into Europe, of which far less will hit the UK in RHD.
Importers want 40k for a LHD 2015 basic V8 spec, if the UK RHD can be had for similar it will be in higher demand.
If I buy the car to keep I want the options from the factory and not have to spend a fortune later adding them such as bucket seats, 3.73 final drive, sports suspension etc.

We shall have to see, price will be key as will the base spec. I would go for one of these two colours:-

Why would you buy new and not get the optional extras you want, surely that's the whole point of buying new... Ok so the optional extras will probably lose value as soon as it leaves the showroom but if that's a concern, buy a newly new second hand car and hope you get the extras you wanted. Regardless, this doesn't really apply for the Mustang as it will be in very limited numbers. If the likes of the Focus RS500 are anything to go by, they will hold their value well. Having a greater demand than supply will help its residual.

The second of those 2 colours (Magnetic) is what I shall be going for in the event I get a chance to place an order and decide that it is 100% the car for me. I am in agreement though that this is not a car I will be buying to maximise the residual and avoiding specific options. It is a car for me to enjoy and as it is new and I will be required to buy new it will get everything on it that I would want as an option.

Time will tell how common these become. I still believe the big V8, wide stance and sheer size will put a lot of people off so hoping they are only just slightly more common than the LHD ones!

My wife REALLY fancies one of these when our term is up on the Fiesta (2 years from now). It would be the 2.3 with options unless the V8 is affordable to run in comparison (unlikely).

I am more on the fence as I want to know the pricing before deciding anything. Above 30k and I will just look at a (used) 435i/d instead.

Might have to get in touch with Ford dealer in Manchester if they're offering £1k refundable deposit. As much as I love the GTR I think i'll be wanting something different next year.

Could even be a nice stop gap for a Toyota FT-1, if that ever gets made.

OPTIONS! :D

New details about how the 2015 Mustang will be packaged and what that equipment will cost just leaked.

Photos taken of a dealer ordering system suggest that Ford will offer five models: the 3.7-liter V6 at the base, the 2.3-liter EcoBoost, the 5.0-liter V8 GT, the 50th anniversary edition currently on display in New York and an SVT version.

Actual pricing isn’t shown in the pictures, but customers who opt for the six-speed automatic will pay an extra $1,195 for it. Adaptive cruise control is also optional and will come with the same price tag as the slushbox. Navigation costs $795 and reverse parking assistance costs $295 on the base GT model.

Ford also apparently only plans to charge $395 for a limited-slip 3.55 rear end. There’s also a separate performance package for the GT model that costs $2,495. Recaro sport seats cost $1,595. Finally, the 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder model will also be offered with a performance package for $1,995.

It also looks like 19-inch painted aluminum alloy wheels will cost $995 while 20-inch versions will set you back $1,295.

The photos also show that Ford will offer 10 paint colors, eight of which are available at not extra cost. If you want “triple yellow,” get ready to drop an extra $495. “Ruby Red Tint” costs $395.

So a GT for me, though I am interested in what the SVT version is. :D

But if GT available then for me it shall be the:-
- NAV: $795
- Rear Parking sensors: $295
- LSD & 3.55 rear-end: $395
- Performance Package: $2495
- Recaro Seats: $1595
- Bigger wheels: $1000

In short about $7000 in options, could be getting expensive if base price is too high, shall have to wait and see.

When you say 500 to Europe, is that in the lifetime of the car or the initial shipment? I'm seriously interested in one these, they look unreal.
