Ford Mustang to be released in EU

Well if 38k gets you one with right options, sport suspension, buckets, performance tyres, 3.91 diff, sound system and nav, that won't be too bad. Could even be potential of a profit if the first year is limited to 500 cars.

Of course will depend if the UK models have the same worth having options the Americans get, knowing our luck the UK car will be a set specification with very little options. :(

I'd have to disagree. If the 4cyl comes in at even 25k it's pound for dollar pricing which puts it at a near 67% increase over its US counterpart.

An affordable, joyful car for the masses it might be in the US, here I'm not sure what it would be but it wouldn't feel like good value for money. Just my opinion of course.

How can you expect a USD price converted to GBP here in the UK?

Cost to convert RHD Ford don't do it for free.
Car needs to be shipped from Detroit to UK, import duties, shipping etc.
Cost of setting up warranty/training here in UK.

We'd all like to see them as a bargain but at the same time companies need to turn a profit, keeping people in jobs blah blah.

No chance of 25k for the 4 pot

A specced focus st3 lists at 28 1/2 I'd imagine the 4 pot will be 30-32k and the v8 35-37k

Would be such a happy man if they offer the 4pot at 25 I'd be all over that

I'm going to take a guess and say that you're all way under what Ford will charge. I reckon they will price the V8 at closer to £50k.

That's not entirely fair to be honest.

There are plenty of Ford models which are sold at almost the same price (Focus/Fusion for example) between the US and the UK. The largest variance I've seen from a quick scan of the US and UK site is about 22%.

Now I agree with you that the product line doesn't exist here so they will have to adjust for it (i.e. engineers, spare parts, warehousing etc) but does that justify a 67% increase in price (i.e. all other things being equal a 67% increase in cost of production incl. taxes).

Just seems to be fleecing the public, if that is the price it hits our shores with.

I seriously doubt anyone would pay 50,000 pounds for a mustang, it would make absolutely no sense considering the market it's targeted at.

And therein lies the problem. If these come is sub £40k for a V8 then it is a real option but if it goes over that then I will probably be looking elsewhere.

Until official pricing is released however I will keep my fingers crossed they are in the right zone based on US expected pricing of the last models....

Drove the v6 as a hire car in Hawaii, thought the car was god awful. Can only think how abysmal a 4 pot version would be.

Welcome to the 21st century.

Dont forget it will be more expensive than the V6 version (in the USA at least where both are sold) and is not exactly a low-power engine - it has over 300bhp!

Low no of cylinders =/= a cheap car.

then it is likely to be turbo charged like most in the vag group.

Hope they are kept to a low volume, part of the attraction of owning one in the UK is how rare they are. I wonder if Ford are hoping to use them like Audi have used the R8 (a halo car), selling them as alternatives to the Focus RS devalues the brand for me.

I can see the V8 being available for around £40k.

I would love to own one.

for 40 grand? surely there are infinitely better options at that price? Could pick up a near perfect example M3 for that.

Now if they offered a 5 year unlimited warranty plus say 60,000 miles all included service contract then that would be more appealing. Just can't see it working at anything above 35k though and even that makes me cringe a bit.

Don't know how the new interior stacks up against the 10-15' models, but those were abysmal. Like being inside a toy or something.

The 4 pot will be more powerful than the V6 with the latter being only available on the base model S550.

It wasnt just the engine that was awful but the whole car. It was ok as a holiday rental with the roof down but I found it a horrible car in virtually every way.

I think Rilot is on the money.

To those saying there are cheaper/better alternatives at that money, bear in mind Ford say they dont expect to sell many over here...

I wouldn't buy one for £40k but then I'll never but any car new so that isn't a sale lost. If Ford only hope to sell a limited number and use the icon to raise the Ford brand then £40k is cheap. There will be enough people in the UK with enough money who would buy them at that price point.

£40k is a lot cheaper than a brand new M4, sure the BMW might have a better interior but people will look past that for the £10k saving and what the Mustang stands for.
