Ford Mustang to be released in EU

At £40k (with options etc) I would/will probably buy one. I have little interest in the likes of M3's, M4's etc as whilst they may be a better drivers car or a better package they just do not do it for me. The thought of the big V8 in a 'Stang takes me back to my childhood growing up in stateside and my Dad driving one Pontiac Trans'Am after another. Its a different car but its the same ethos. Big lazy V8 and a wide bodied American muscle car and more low end grunt than I would ever need. I grew up over the river from Detroit and I suppose there is just a little bit of Motor City in me that I just can't shake.

Ford won't be targeting people who want the best car for their money. They will be targeting people who want a Mustang.

This, exactly.

Ford will sell 500-1000 to people like ShadowMan a year and in doing so will raise the profile of the 'fast/sporty' Ford brand.

Only in America would that be acceptable as a selling point. :D

Well they just got a deposit out of me, LOL. :D

Seems there is 500 coming to Europe, of which so many will be RHD UK varients and well if I want the chance to be first with one I had to part with £1000 deposit (refundable) so I did. :D

Gives me the option anyway, plus with so few available and potentially such high demand could probably own it for six months and then sell it on at no loss. :)

Where did you put your pre-order through? I tried to enquire at a couple of dealerships and they are themselves waiting for more info. From what I gathered, pre-ordering was meant to happen on the 24th May during the Champions League final.

I rang Bristol Street Ford (Stoke) last year as soon as first rumours surfaced, telling them I wanted one, so they put my name down.

They called me today, saying they had my details as being one of the first in the UK wanting one and as long as I put a £1000 deposit down by 08:30am tomorrow then I'd be first to get one.

As its refundable it made sense to do so, they had no idea on price and wanted to know if I would want S4 or V8, I said V8 and was told price would be 32-38k but in reality they still have no idea on final price.

If its sub 35k I shall probably proceed, I loved my Mustang, this new car out the box outperforms the BOSS 302 on track and road, so it sounds like a very sorted handling car and the new 5.0l V8 is a work of art achieving around 450BHP from Ford and around 35mpg on a run. Technology!

Ford did say they will be looking to match what the US allow and that is to be tuning friendly as well, so lets see.

For me if I have the option to own one without loosing any money or very little I shall do it, then if I love the car I will keep it, if I don't I shall move it on after a few months for what I paid. :)

A £1000 refundable deposit sounds very good. I might do the same if the chance presents itself!

Give Bristol Street Stoke a call, they are there until 17:45 and if you can get them £1000 deposit today, you should be in the first Mustangs to enter UK or at least get your name down in case anyone drops out. :)

Still not contact from my dealers on these. I'll try Bristol Street tomorrow AM first thing to see if they taking any more deposits. If it is refundable anyway then would be rude not to!

I'll also be ringing TC Harrison in Peterborough to ask why they are not responding to my emails and yet other dealers are already taking deposits...

Road cars are not built for racing/comp use, it's surely not hard to understand?

It's a mustang.

Okay not a all out sports car, more muscle coupe. Ford is a international company. People who have probably been working on this car since they started releasing limited editions of the last gen mustang at the very list.

What makes you think you know better m8?

Come on guys, no new car warranty covers a car used for racing! Buy an Audi RS4 and take it racing and see if Audi come and fix it :p

Some manufacturers don't even like track days.
