Foreigners working here...

Got to love uneducated folk who messed around at school, didnt study or work hard who now find themselves in a position where the only job they can get is incredibly low paid and so much so, that Polish and EU nationals are doing the job better than them for the same money.

When I was at school, there were plenty of idiots who messed around and did nothing but cause trouble, these same people now spend all day spouting on Facebook and the like about Foreigners taking jobs and how they cant get a job.

I made sure I worked hard and studied with no extra priveleges over any other person in school and I find myself in a position where I can get well paid work with ease and never encounter foreigners taking jobs.

Its got nothing to do with your background....if you work hard in life you can have anything you want......do the minimum you'll end up in the gutter and blaming everyone but yourself and that includes these foreigners.

Also on a sidenote, my company is constantly recruiting.....my boss spends most of his day looking for new guys for the office, but just cant find suitable people as most people arent educated enough to do the job.

Because having a decent debate on foreign workers is a bad thing?

I didn't say otherwise. I was agreeing with the general sentiment that the vocal minority of GD are of the THEY TOOK OUR JERBS variety. Decent debate regarding immigration/foreign workers is not something this forum does well.

The conversation was going quite well in till both of you added your troll posts.

Is 'troll' now just the word everyone uses when someone says literally anything that they even slightly disagree with? It's becoming very tiresome.

No it's used when people post something that adds nothing what so ever to the debate just to be 'cool'

Like most of the stuff you post I guess.

It is. I blame the bloomin' foreigners

And this :D

Oh, if it's personal you should have just said and I wouldn't have bothered replying. I thought you were making a point rather than having a pop, which is fine, just wish you'd made it clearer earlier.

Enjoy your debate :)

Whats he adding to the system that someone on benefits couldn't have done

So this small amount he is spending here is being used for a minute fraction of the job seekers benefits

If people on benefits were filling these roles then immigration for low level jobs wouldn't be feasible. Reality is that these Eastern Europeans are happy to move across several countries to go look for work whereas plenty of young British people will simply sign on because no one has 'given' them a job.
The idea of moving out of their former industrial town and getting a job elsewhere often isn't pursued.

So what about experience?

Lets say you have....

A foreign plumber that has worked in Poland for the past 10 years as a plumber.

And you have brit that has just been to uni or whatever and got all qualifications but has no experience, as he is young and only just finished getting them.

Guess who will get the job.

See things are not so black and white are they. Even after putting in the work, you still can get beaten by a foreigner.

It depends on what the job is, if it's to be a plumber I guess the Pole will get it. If it's to work as a coder at a software company it'd be the Brit.

This seems like you're clutching with this one. I'm not saying you're wrong, but it's a bit of a naff example.

I wouldn't have classed a plumber as a low level role and given that there is supposed to be a demand for them its not a bad thing - are you aware of any issues with fully qualified plumbers being unable to find work?

Why does a plumber need to go to uni or whatever?

You will probably find that the 'Polish' plumber was apprenticed at 15 or 16 for a very low wage and at 25 has had 10 years experience and is fully trained.

Whereas here it would be illegal not to pay £240 pw plus employer costs for an 'apprentice' or 'trainee' plumber with little relevant skills at 18.

That's not true as an absolute, working hard will give you a better 'chance' of success, but by no means guarantees it.

I know people who have worked very hard but circumstance keeps knocking them back and they don't have everything. And on the other side I know people who don't put in any effort but get everything they want just because of their background and who they know.

This is the problem really. Mummy won't come with them to the big smoke to look for work, or they'd rather doss about all day in a tracksuit that's never seen a blade of grass. Some jobs are just beneath them

What happened to Great Britain :( Get on your bike

Apologists swarming all over you in 3 ... 2 .... 1

I love all this blame on the younger generation for being workshy and f.eckless (and that rhetoric hasn't changed for the last 100 years :p) - well, we (parents/society) brought them up like that, no? So whose fault is it really.

Of course, nothing in life is guaranteed.

But those people that have worked hard will reap the benefits one day.

With regards to people who get everything they want due to their background and who they know, thats just a life lottery, similar to people born into millionaire families.

The point I was trying to make, was that the people who messed around in school, did the bare minimum, left school at 16 and messed about find getting low skilled jobs difficult now and instead of looking in the mirror and thinking "I've got myself into a mess, due to my lack of effort" they blame the government or shout at the foriegners who have actually left behind their families and freinds to try and earn a better wage.

Bring it. I'll have my Romanian assistant canvas replies

I can offer my 4 Romanian Site Managers and two Ozzy Engineers, swaths of Bulgarian and Czech labourers and South African QA to help with the replies back. They're not doing much today anyway.
