Formula E 2014/2015 season

Enjoyed this race the most of the ones so far.

Safety car messed up JEV's race (minus the technical failure), he really should have won this. He destroyed everyone in qualifying considering he'd never driven the car before that morning.

Loads of amateur driving from the field. Again the ex-F1 drivers show their class, bar Senna.

Safety car rule is daft. They go so slow they might as well just stop the cars on track, kind of like they abandoned the warm up lap.

Temped to go and see it at Monaco since I'll be in that region. It's a toss up between this or going to the F1 on a Thursday.

Its good too see they are listening. Yet more improvements this race. Lots of radio, much better cameras both onboard and trackside, a much more interesting track.

They need to identify where FE is compromised and work around it. Like they did dropping the formation lap. I agree with englishpremier, this is a series where red flagging and then a standing start would work much better than safety cars. The tyres are still terrible though.

It needs a soundtrack too. Play the DJ over the race coverage. Have him switch tracks when things happen. Make it like a computer game. Listening to the whine of electric motors is not the least bit enjoyable.

As long as they keep making changes all is good imp. This is a short season. Well actually it's more like an extended test. Real season kicks off next year. Well I hope so, hope there's no last minute changes where they don't build they're own cars.

They really need one radio at a time and display the name, hope that comes in next race.

Considering it took FOM about 4 races to realise they needed to turn the mics up on the F1 cameras, the improvement in the coverage of FE is pretty good.

I disagree about own cars though. Until they are in a position where every team can build or buy it's own from a wide selection, the series will be stronger remaining single make. Making it a money race will kill it.

It is impressive that they are prepared to make changes and at a fairly quick rate... Hopefully they can keep improving it and we could end up with a good racing series, I think there is definitely the potential there.

Yep was better than earlier races and agree about the tyres being crap.

I understand the idea behind a single tyre, that makes sense. But it seems like it's just far to hard. Buemi isn't a noob, but as soon as he pushed hard after the final SC he looked like a complete amateur locking up all over the place as the tyres can't keep up with the performance of the car.

A much softer and grippier tyre with larger tread blocks would make a massive improvement.

Fanboost was still a farce. Having been told they had to use it, most drivers appeared to save it for the end of the last lap when they were sure it wouldn't compromise their power management.

If the batteries aren't up to driving the whole race flat out then shorten the races until they are.

I agree about fan boost. The idea behind it is good i.e. to get teams and drivers more engaged witht the fans, but the implementation isn't great.

Overtaking at these tracks seems quite difficult too.

Only thing I've found to be interesting so far is that Jennie Gow scrubs up quite nicely for TV :p

Can't get into the racing at all, and the music does my head in. It's uncanny just how much Alex Brundle is like his father also.

12 companies have applied to supply and develop powertrains for the second season.
FIA expects 6-8 to make it onto the grid next year, once a few get dropped in vetting processes.

However Agag now want to keep the spark chassis for a number of years, until the powertrain gets good enough. :(, although it's not confirmed yet as that's down to FIA

That would be a shame I was hoping for some fairly relaxed specifications so we could have some really innovative chassis designs popping up!

Still it's good to see there is interest in getting on board with the series, I suppose at the end of the day the powertrains are the most important part of the series so I suppose it's not all bad that they are the main focus.

Do we need chassis designs? We already have loads of people building all manners of single seater chassis. What FE needs is an increase in people making high performance electric powertrains. Standardizing the chassis while opening power train development helps to focus attention in the right area.

Reading the full French interview Montagny did with L'Equipe, he seems to have serious problems going on in his personal life. Changing hotel at the last minute without telling anyone, then paying a dealer for an envelope when he didn't know what the contents were... not the actions of someone in a lucid state, that's for sure.

ITV4 HD
6:00pm-8:30pm (2 hours 30 minutes)Sat 10 Jan

The Buenos Aires ePrix. Jennie Gow presents coverage of the fourth round of the season, staged at the Puerto Madero Street Circuit in Argentina. This is the first time this track has been used for any motorsport event, so the drivers will have had to concentrate especially hard in practice and qualifying as they try to familiarise themselves with each of the 12 turns included in the 2.44km circuit. Brazil's Lucas di Grassi enters this meeting at the top of the drivers' championship, though each of the three previous races have all produced different winners, and no driver appears to be dominating the rest of the field. With commentary by Jack Nicholls and Dario Franchitti, and reports by Nicki Shields
