Formula E 2014/2015 season

I forgot I'd recorded this, and kind of wish I hadn't remembered...

At least the track is an interesting layout this time, and they binned the utterly stupid formation lap. The safety car was comedy though. Taking 4 laps to pick up the leader because they are going at walking pace was pathetic.

But over all, it just felt like watching amateur hour. A pile of silly and clumsy crashes and mistakes all happening in slow motion.

But the biggest issue, those tyres. Choosing to run a single road style tyre is a massive mistake. It just can't take it. It can't cope with the torque under acceleration, can't hold on and makes the driver just a passenger under braking, and the cars don't go fast enough to generate downforce while cornering so they skip and bob all over the place. The cars would be far more interesting to watch with more mechanical grip. As it stands it's just watching 20 guys and girls spend 40 minutes trying to hold on to a field of slow undriveable cars.

Seemed a bit more interesting than the procession of the first race. As you say they need better tyres and DRS would help too with the racing.

Decent race, feel for Senna though. This track flattered the cars a bit more as there were no ridiculous length straights.

I think they should abandon the safety car for this and do the LeMans style slowing.

Really impressive race from Bird.

Thought there was some (with the exception of Bird) good close racing.

Felt for Senna can't believe he lost it there!

The changeover is still Bizarre, mostly because of this minimum time thing, it all seems so random, everyone comes in and it's like the order jsut gets mixed up massively randomly.

Great race from Bird. Nice to see someone trying a different strategy with Abt making the top 10 - just.

Lots of amateur driving incidents and a Truli train :-)

Seems they listened to fans and stopped the stupid formation lap, but they need to just stop the cars on track when there's a safety car. There's no point them cruising around at 10mph as they do.

JEV will be racing for Andretti this weekend, can't help but think it's a step down for him which is a real shame... Will Buxton mentions he is wanting a move to the US (think he could do real well there!) so could be good to get in good with Andretti.

Could be a bit of a tough ask with very little to no running in the car, will have to see how he goes!

Be interesting to see how he gets on.

I think Heidfeld looks good from the ex-F1 drivers. Shame he's been punted off in both races. Bruno Senna and Chandhook are just as poor as they were in F1.

Nice that they have team radio now but they really need to sort it out, only show one at a time and show who it is.

And I thing Vergne did it right. Half race used ever single bit of that battery pack, but we will see. SC messed him up.

Fan boost sucks, but so does Drs in f1.

However the rest isn't bad at all and this circuit is great.
And next year will be even more interesting with massive leap in battery pack and at least several teams building their own cars.

:( vergne

Very sad for JEV. He drove a great race, got unlucky with safety car timing, had problems with fan boost and still had basically won the race (surely they'd have had to penalise Buemi for skipping the chicane?) and then his car packs in at the last hurdle.
