forum rules update - what changed?

Big notification at the top of the forum saying the forum rules are updated - but it's not clear what changed - anyone know?

It's just a general tidy up, the previous rules had been written and modified over the course of many years and were unnecessarily wordy.

Out of interest, what's the reason for that? Even if it was a single thread that got posted to. We've seen a lot of posts asking about certain posters and allowing ones who decide to stop posting for certain reasons would avoid a lot of that.

Could even make it a rule of allowing it for posts with over X number of posts/years.

It would be simpler to just ban discussion on anything related to those things as all it takes is a single person to find offence at something you said and suddenly you're an ist or ic

If theres one thing you can guarantee, especially in 2022, its that someone, somewhere, will find offence at anything. Depending how picky someone wants to be, its probably possible to find offence at a post in almost every thread on the forums. Its a sad statement on society that we even need to have such a list of ists and ics.
