forum rules update - what changed?

You're all reading too much into this. Compare the old ones to the new ones and various items that are now in bullet points were largely just in a list before. I guess this just shows that the majority of people never actually read them before.

BE NICE TO ONE ANOTHER

and don't go in Members Market unless you know what you're doing.
That's pretty much what it's always been, and I'm always disappointed in how hard it seems for some people to remember that, and that we have to spell it out so bluntly.

On the flip side, I'm also reminded of the fact that whenever you see a sign stating not to do something utterly stupid, it's usually because at least one person has attempted to do that utterly stupid thing:) (one of my favourites was something along the lines of "Do not feed drugs to the bears").

Some of the "odder" rules in the list are there because 20 odd years ago certain things were getting so tedious and repetitive whilst derailing threads.

Aye, most of the changes were to make it easier to read, and make it a little clearer so there was less wriggle room for people to claim they didn't understand the rules:)

Funny u say that, coz I've often wanted to check the rules but not known where they were, and thought there should just be a link here:

Actually, no. Mods/OCUK Staff, and I know the reasoning. Also, if I recall correctly, there is to be zero discussion in regards to that farse of a thread.

Pretty much, yes. I think the new rules are pretty clear, concise and basically emphasise this.

To quote Bill and Ted, "Be excellent to each other!"
Why isn't that thread to be mentioned?

According to the rules a new one could be created? Please correct me if I'm wrong mods?

Rule updates are definitely related to the twitter stuff, ocuk literally said this on a tweet. Though the rules and the tweet don't align, thankfully.

As a newbie (FNG) I read and memorised the forum rules when I joined.
I heard from someone else though that it would have been a cracker if new changes were in like bold or sumfink

Ah progressives, always so humble and honest in their perceived victories.

Given your super exclusive insider knowledge would you care to explain, if there is indeed to be "zero discussion in regards to that farse of a thread", why you are now discussing it? Is this some form of digital Seppuku?

You're certainly right that it was a farce. My favourite part was when you posted pictures of someone you claimed to be your female friend (in an attempt to prove that people can't tell the difference between real women and trans women) but was actually you, an obvious trans woman. Farcical indeed.

Just to clarify in case anyone's still not sure, there is nothing in the rules against creating posts or threads discussing that thread or the topic it centered around.

Real men don't read instructions.

I like the rules.

Though I can imagine on certain subjects there is going to be a very thin line that I suspect some will cross by accident.
