forum rules update - what changed?

Oh dear - I've just hit 1k posts and now the New Posts page (how I use the forum) is spammed with Members Market stuff. Is there a way to filter out the MM with the new forum, or can someone remove my MM access please?

But the list of taboo matters does seem to bring me recollection of reading the book "1984"…
The taboo matters are:
  • Adult material (e.g. intimate, sexually explicit media or sexually suggestive content, including that of minors or of someone without their consent)
  • Prohibited goods or services (e.g. Illegal firearms, ammunition, explosives, drugs, stolen goods, personal information, fraudulent products or services)
  • Personal attacks
  • Trolling
  • Doxxing (e.g. attempting to discover or reveal someone’s identity)
  • Spamming
  • Harassment
  • Stalking
  • Bullying
  • Cyberflashing
  • Threats of Violence
  • Medical advice (e.g. remedies, prescriptions, or advice where a user would be best seeking a professional)
  • Promotion of business interests or self gain, or the use of unsolicited referral links
  • Software protected by copyright (e.g. “warez”, “gamez”, “ROMs”)
  • Games console modification (e.g. chipping or jailbreaking)
  • Promotion of OcUK competitors
  • Anti-OcUK
  • Swearing (Use of the asterisk is allowed, completely censoring the word in full with no letters present)
  • “Goodbye” threads
Many of those were mentioned under the old rules, albeit in list form rather than bullet points. You think some of these should be allowed?

There is a second bullet pointed list, please make sure you read this comment under that list.

Whilst we allow the discussion of matters such as race, sex, religion, nationality, disabilities, politics, and gender, we require these posts and comments to remain on topic, constructive and objective and remind all contributors to be considerate and think about how others may interpret their comments before posting.

The old rules said: "OcUK holds a strict policy of inclusion, as such, members posting in a xenophobic, racist, or in a prejudiced nature will not be tolerated. Posts that defame an individual or group of individuals owing to their race or ethnicity, religion, nationality, disability, or sexuality for example (the list is not exhaustive) will be removed and a suspension to their account will be applied."

Really, nothing has changed. The rules have been tidied up, sections that were multiple paragraphs long have been shortened down to one line. People are reading far too much into this.

or can someone remove my MM access please?
Done.

I've read the official statement posted after the thread on the forbidden topic was erased and I've read the changes to the forum rules. I don't know what the mod team would allow regardless of the official statement and official rules and I don't know how long they would be allowed to allow it for, so I'm going on the official statement and the official rules
The initial statement said the rules are being looked at. The rules have been re-written, ignore the statement, it's superseded by the new rules.

To be fair that thread was a disaster and a horrible look on the front pages of the forum.

Even coming from someone who strongly disagrees with the trans movement that thread was just ugly and felt like bullying. Not everything needs to be said out aloud.

If people remain silent and don't state otherwise then how will people know that their opinions aren't agreed upon by all?
