Forza 2 Demo - Feedback

Just won a race in the F430 and the replay looks awesome.
I honestly don't know where all this criticism and 'omg I am soooo dissapointed pass me the razors' stuff is coming from.
I'm playing this on a 40" 1080p Sony and it really looks awesome. The handling on this wheel is damn good, I can see myself spending a load of time on this.
Textures also seem good to me, grass especially. Speaking of grass, they seem to have done a proper job of handling if you hit a patch of it.
Colours seem really good also.

In real life RX8 has similar handling characteristics as the 7 though. I wouldn't say they were light on the rear end, but they do like it sideways if you are a bit happy on the throttle mid-bend.
I haven't tried the 8 in the demo yet, so I can't say if it's close or not.

50:50 weight distribution apparently. Is there a 350z, thats another one balanced like that.

I've been waiting a long time for this demo. Indeed it's the first time I've turned on my 360 for a month...
The Lambo sounds just as good as I'd hoped and I'm loving the howl of its V10. I prefer its handling to the overly light 430 as well. All I need to do now is temper my driving style a touch in order to stop burning up my front tyres. The way things are going at the moment lap I'm washing wide in the corners by the third lap and losing the lead.
I so hope the full game features either a Gallardo Spyder, or even better a V12 Murcielago!

The more and more I play it the less the graphics become and issue.
Specially when you hear it whining far in distance
along with F430 sound rubbish na way sound rocks in this game imo.I stopped on the Start/Finish line and you can hear the Gallardo still going into the first corner its superb.

Had a go with the 'vette (and racing version), RX8, Saleen, F430, Porsche, Mustang & M3 - all assists off
Firstly, never played Forza 1 - so my first impressions are pretty good. Visuals are very slick, no doubt about that. The replays are nicer but then again it's 30fps, which to be honest I could live with for the extra detail, but hey ho. Car models are very nice indeed, and it's even better when they're roughed up a bit too! Although as was said before the brake disc glowing could be toned down a touch.
The cars sound awesome, the 'rarri especially, very throaty exhaust note which sends shivers down my spine The other cars around you sound spot on, really gives you a sense of 'i'm driving for my life' and right in the thick of it!
I'm no expert at driving games but I like the handling, every car has very different characteristics. In the Porsche you can chuck it around like no-one's business and still stay on the track but in the F430 you have to be very careful (but have the back end out lots hehe). And the Race class cars.....well.....
I've started as I mean to go on and have all the assists off, and it's very raw. Braking on the pad is particular and a bit too much and you'll lock right up - but it's very satisfying indeed.
There's more points I could touch on but won't (want to play!!!), but all in all I think it's far more 'involving' than say PGR3 (even though it's an arcade racer). You feel more enthralled and 'in' the race. Don't quite know how to put it...but it's very good

Didn't you have an RX-8 at one point and thought it was a bit whimpier than the RX-7? or did i imagine that? lol
It could be because i like to be at really high revs on manual round bends lol
I've only had a quick play, love the smooth frame-rate makes a change for an xbox game, graphics are so so for a next gen console as for gameplay I'll not comment until I've played more.
Can I just ask though cos i'm baffled, why do I get a lap time penalty when the dumbass computer cars nudge me?

I think it's unfair when it's not your fault, I'm feeling that too. But, I think the penalty system overall is welcome for me. Good professional driving is being enforced rather than the 'batter myself through cars/walls' approach available on the rubbish PGR3 and also in GT.

The time penalty seems to just effect your laptimes rather than the result, which works quite well since you won't get people finding so many ways of setting impossible lap times.
F1:CE on the PS3 gives you a slow down penalty for cutting a corner or having a crash and it can really get annoying as you accidentaly take too much curb or are taken out by the AI and then have what is effectivly a double punishment for something that may not be your fault.

Hmmm lol musta been smoking something good lol Maybe i thought your RX7 sig was a wing off an RX8 oh well.
yeah the penalty is a pain for the AI hitting you. But it is better than the F1, sometimes you don't cut the corner in that and you get a corner cut. I got a corner cut for running wide and losing 2 places

Just had a quick blast with F430 and got a 01:00:849 all assists off - was taking it tenderly though
