Forza 2 Demo - Feedback

I'm slowly turning the driver aids off at the moment. Today saw me take the plunge and try to drive the Lambo without Traction and Stability controls.

Bizzarely my lap times have actually improved by a couple of seconds or more and it's become much easier to control/correct it in the corners, especially the two top s-bends on the demo track. This may be more to do with the 4WD drive system than my obvious skill, but it pleased me anyway. :D

As a result I am now spanking my opponents in the demo races by a country mile, whereas before it was rather more difficult.

Roll on Friday!

A high street video/dvd/game rental shop will be selling Forza 2 for £9.99, if you trade one of the following games:

FN3
GRAW
GRAW2
Gears of War
Brian Lara Cricket
Crackdown
Champ Manager 07
Def Jam Icon
Lost Planet
Rainbow 6: Vegas
Virtual Tennis 3

Will be dusting off my copy of FN3:D
the shop in question has the same name as a quiz show what was hosted byBob Holness :)

No assists are actually faster overall. It's just that you need to have a decent degree of skill before you are faster using them than not :) I am just turning them off (apart from ABS) as it's more fun, but I'd probably be faster with them at the minute.

Pah, Lambo is easy to drive :p Try driving the R2 Corvette and the R2 Zonda. I've "mastered" the latter of these now and can pretty much do hot laps on demand without any off road excursions... Hell I'll be leading the race after the first hair-pin corner if I get a good start. It's so easy to out-brake the AI.

Best time in the Zonda is 0.50.348. That's on pad too ;)

This is all without any assists.

Yeah the first thing I did was turn all assists off, just left auto gearchange as I usually have that on when I use a pad.
Its got a great feel for the differences in cars, the lack of tracks mentioned in reviews doesn't bother me too much, at least I will be able to learn them :D
I really wish they could use AA though, it was promoted saying it would run 4xAA but they must have decided against it to maintain framerates, having an option for it would be nice.

You couldn't have an option for 4xaa as it would cause sync issues online if one person was at 60fps and one at 30fps.

Also you need to learn manual gears unless you want to be left behind on multiplayer races.

Are you sure? I know you can't have 60Hz and 50Hz players playing each other, but I would have thought that 60 and 30 being divisible would be okay. I don't support consoles having graphical options á la PC games however, but still.

I mean I know people who run at PAL50 have fps of either 25 or 50, so it is an fps issue either way. But anyway... kind of moot I suppose :)

Yes you can. How do you think people on PCs play each other with different frame rates (fps) and people on XBox Live have always been able to play each other at 50/60hz.

NTSC-J IS REGION FREE

How many times.

Pike are you still saying this is region free?

Do you actually have a copy yourself or physically seen someone elses working?

I'm still holding out a tiny hope for the non CE asian version.

On PCs it is different. On consoles, certainly in the past - eg. PGR 1 - you were physically prevented from playing others online unless you were running at the same speed. Perhaps it has changed, perhaps it hasn't. AFAIK there is no PAL50 on the Xbox360 any more is there?

There is still PAL50 for a lot of games, but it doesn't prevent you playing other people online as far as I know.

Maybe, but the issue wasn't there with halo 2 and 50/60hz 360 games have no issues.

Where are all these screenshots of it running on people's TVs coming from if they do not have the region free copy?

Now I'm baffled!!! people were talking about early NTSC copies that they got from ebay and some other forums. But now people say it is not region free?

Kreeee: what type of copy do you have, if you don't mind me asking.
