Forza 2 Demo - Feedback

Well the first thing i have to say is no control options. I personally find the trigger/thumbstick layout awful. I always use buttons and have always had quicker times doing so. There'll be no time trialling for me i'm afraid :( Silly sods forcing people to use this...

Graphics, well i think PGR3 looks better although it doesn't have the draw distance Forza 2 has.

Handling, not sure on this, again the control layout makes it awkward for me to judge.

Sound, engines sound ok, music sucks poo. Other sounds seem average.

I need more time on it though so off i go :)

well i want realism from a game marketed as a sim, thanks

the term "sim" seems to mean very different things on consoles and pc

i have played gtr (1st one) but i didn't like it as it was too simmy, the handling was great and all but i don't have time to sit and get into games that much.

remember the 1st gran turismo was called a sim and that wasn't a sim by any means

I was terrible with it first off trying to play like PGR but once you get used to handling its a doddle i wouldnt suggest giving up after a few tries. Assist off taking sometime to get used to but Assist on its a doddle i thought handling was crap at first but got used to it come 1st in last 3 races. :)

Its just getting used to a sim again graphics are not all that great but there still good and next gen sound is awesome also especially from Mclaren f1. :D

Edit: Oh nearly forgot damage its great. :)

Just took some pics for those interested...sorry about the quality (had to resize) :)

Personally, I pleased with the demo. Graphically however, I was expecting much more, but like it has been said AA should be integrated into the full version.

any chance you could post them? :D

Can somebody please tell me what settings are available for the wheel and pedals, if any.
Thanks.

I just downloaded the demo, and despite the lack of AA, I am definitely convinced into keeping my preorder of this game intact. :) I found the demo more fun and playable than Gran Turismo HD 2.0.

So all in all this is a bit of a let down then?

So far most seem very happy, a few people seem to have some fairly minor quibbles which seems to ruin the game for them apparently.

Not sure.

I've just done my first race and my 2p.

The sound, general graphics* and handling feel very good. Very very good and I really enjoyed it.

*There is one problem, one huge problem for me though. As others have said the jaggies on the cars are horrendous and makes the game actually painful to play and look at. It's a show stopper for me.

I can't believe they'll release the final game with the cars looking like that. Surely they can't?

I find it hard to believe they will add AA, the preview copies haven't had it and now the demo hasn't, have they said recently the full game will still have AA?

For me yes, mainly on the graphics front, was expecting to be wow'd but to me PGR3 still looks better, sure 60FPS is great but I am not sure its worth it to look this bland. The car models are nice sure enough, but they are jaggy and seem to stand out from the track, off putting. The track seems detailed enough bit poor textures for grass etc but not too worrying.

After a bit more play with ABS on then its is a decent game I guess, the handling feels about right, even if the braking is IMO totally wrong and not realistic, with ABS on it feels a bit more like real life in that you can use more of the brake to modulate your speed, another niggle is it seems to have a lack of sense of speed, you feel like your taking a corner in 40MPH until you look and your doing 80MPH.

Overall disappointing, but maybe I was expecting too much, would like to try the braking with the wheel, but I will still be getting it even to race with ABS on.

If the final has AA then the game will look good. Although this is a simulation so why would they sacrifice FPS? The people they cater for aren't overly bothered...although it does look nice imo.

The 360 is supposed to give 4xAA for no performance hit though  If the final release doesn't have AA and the jaggies are really bad, i might cancel my order. The no AA may be why trying to get ingame vids and pics that where decent was like trying to get Dirty Dog not to talk about fps :p

i am downloading just now but are the reflections/shadows runing at a different framerate to the rest of the game like the first one did, that bugged me.

The thing with braking though is you need some form of braking assist, because in a wheel/pedal or controller set up, you get 0 feedback from the pedal. This isn't as important as an accelerator, but with breaking it is fundamental, so games when you turn off all breaking assists, just wont be realistic at all, and nigh on impossible to drive acurately.

No offence but PC sims can manage to do it, I will wait till you try it without ABS, I dont have a problem with wheels locking up, but really the amount of pressure needed to lock up IMO is badly exaggerated.
