Forza 2: No AA in final version

Theres definately AA in the replay mode. In-game I cant really notice if its running 2xAA or none at all.

I'm sure there must be some, it doesn't look 'rough' enough for there to be none at all.

So much for peter moores bs of "the age of jaggies is over".
I just found his quote.

PETER MOORE: So to create experiences that transform reality, well, that's really a lot to ask of any medium. To ensure that the next generation delivers, every game is built on what we call Essentials, a foundation of requirements every game must have before it can ship on the Xbox 360 platform. These essentials include a minimum of 720p high definition resolution to provide gamers with jaw-dropping visual clarity and fidelity. Many developers are already working on games in 1080i.

Every Xbox 360 game will be designed for high definition widescreen television and will support 16x9 aspect ratio to expand the storytelling canvas.

Let me just say very clearly: These games will also look amazing on standard definition TV.

In addition, Xbox 360 games will provide anti-aliasing that gets rid of what we call the jaggies. Well, you know what, with Xbox 360, the age of the jaggies is over, superseded by smooth, lifelike visuals of cinematic quality.

Blatant BS highlighted...

Look carefully, the AA is there but the reflections and specular highlights are NOT anti-aliased, hence wherever the reflections or highlights meet the edge of your car, it appears to be badly aliased. Look at a dull part of your car (not heavily illuminated or reflecting contrasting images) and you'll see that some degree of anti-aliasing does exist.

What someone said over on their forums.

I was just hoping for incar.. but it failed me :/

yep, even PG3 had it, how can they call this a true sim without that feature in it. I know having 300 odd in car cockpit views would mean less cars tracks probably due to space limitations on the dvd9 but not having it in on a game like this is criminal, just makes it another racer in the end

Agreed no need for another thread for this,
whats the point??
If the point had antialiasing then it wouldnt be a point at all!

I dont know what the fuss is about, its not half as bad as PGR3 and if you are noticing it then you are looking at the wrong bit of the track when racing.. you are supposed to be looking at the apex ahead of you.

It isn't too much to ask for either is it.

Turn 10 have banged on about 60fps so much, anyone would think they were magicians who had achieved something miraculous... rather than it simply being par for the course (or should be) and something which the Playstation 1 was achieving in racing games about ten years ago

Actually...
Considering the game was made using the original engine from PGR3 and had a whole bunch of the team from Bizarre alongside Turn10 tweaking and manipulating existing code and adding new code, Bizarre Creations are actually amazed that they managed to get 60fps out of the game.

Unfortunately PGR4 is now 30fps like its prequel too.

So getting 60fps out of it WAS a big deal.

I'm a game player. You keep apologising for substandard crap, I'll keep saying how I think things should be :)

So you think it should be possible to get full AA and 60fps with the current gen?

Do you KNOW it's possible? What if the devs did actually push it as far as it would go?

And you think Forza 2 is 'substandard crap'?
No, that was a general comment about people who are habitual apologists for mediocre games or aspects of games. Although yes, it does look like Forza 2 is below what it should be, in a number of respects. Graphics is one of them.

Let me make it clear what I am saying because you seem to have misunderstood.

I said that Turn 10 have no right to make out that having 60fps is some AWESOME HUGE MEGA ACHIEVEMENT which they are wizards for being able to pull off. Why do I say this? Because since ten years ago, consoles with a TENTH of the Xbox 360's power were producing racing games which ran at that framerate. On the Dreamcast it was a GIVEN that a game would be 60fps, and only a handful were 30. Yet now machines are 1000% faster, somehow it is something they deserve a special recognition for? What?!

I do not know about the 360's hardware capabilities but if a PS1 or DC can push out 60fps games, then surely to god a 3.2GHz Xbox 360 in 2007 can do the same, but add some AA to it
