FORZA 3 - Time Trial

Good call on the Ferrari. As I recall that thing is very fast but has quite a satisfying balance to it.

Probably a good call to allow traction control for that one!

Reaper are you ok to do some tunes for us? If I choose a car and track could you possibly tune it for us and state what upgrades etc need adding? I think i-bert suggestion is a good one.

I am rubbish at tuning. I wouldn't know where to start. Have you got a beginners guide?

i would love to do a tune for this. just tell me what your after and i will do my best.

also, will look for a tuning guide on the forza forums when im back from lectures

Yeah I tried it without the assists and although not too bad to drive you couldn't really push it as the back end just ends up in a totally different direction.

I got this from the App store for my iPhone ForzaTune It gives you a basic setup once you input certain parameters and all you need to do is adjust the Aero and Gears to suit the track. If a track is very bumpy you might need to chnage the springs and ride height etc. It certainly puts you in the right direction to tuning for any one track.

You can use the Flash version here

I assume we're all supposed to be using the same use, yeah? Or is there any leeway for adjustments? I've not looked at what the car allows from stock, but some of the high end ones are very customisable even at stock.

You can change whatever is allowed on the car just don't buy any other parts. Tune to your hearts desire. You can tune (adjust) everything apart from brakes on the F430GT.

Helping each other out to get the most out of the car is welcome. I will post my Tune once I get chance. I am going to get ready for work now..

I cansee this TT going on for a while. Everyone swapping tunes and getting that extra .100 of a second off. I'm off work tomorrow so I'll spare some time on this

definitely giving this a go. i will also try to post my final tune, but i suspect i will forget to write it down at least twice, so dont be surprised if it takes me a while to post it

ive given the car a good going over, changing everything that i can in an attempt to improve it, and i can tell you that this car is a pig.
as before im having major oversteer problems coming out of the corners, although i suspect its more to do with me putting too much power on this time.

after a good number of laps ive settled with a 0:54.204

my tune is available on my storefront.
- either, send me a message and i will add you to my friends list (please say you are from overclockers, otherwise i'll its a random friend request again)
- or, look under leaderboards, directors. i will be in the top 100 (~60th) and add me as a favourite
my GT is the same as my username here: Reaper 392

58.276 with no assists and no line. Some random tune on the car, but I'm going to look at putting one together myself.

EDIT: retuned and down to 57.495, still with no assists and no line. I'm quite pleased with that as a starting point. I think my lines are pretty good. I'm not sliding, so the tune has got the handling pretty well sorted. I must must must sort out the gears though. There's a couple of corners where I'm having to change up just as I hit them then down immediately, and I'm only just hitting 5th on the straight right before the bend. If I can fiddle the gears to make my changes more efficient and up my acceleration on the straight then I could maybe save a second.

It's a great car! With a bit of tuning it stays really well planted.

Von. Iirc my cousin (Worked as a chief mechanic for Formula 3000 team many years ago. Remember the Birmingham super Prix) told me once that to get the most out of the gears you need to get it to hit max revs in the last gear (6th in our case) just when you need to brake for the corner at the end of the longest straight. Then adjust the ratios for the gears that you use for the set of corners after the long straight so you redline in 3rd/4th just as you need to brake for the corners.. If you find you're finding you are changing up as you hit a corner, note what gear you are in before changing up and a few notches on the ratio settings should help you out.

I will be trying this out later

Disclaimer: I am not a mechanic or have ever dabbled in anything with a car apart from pour in oil and screen wash so taking my word for it could result in catastrophic crash that could mess up your hotlap time. I hold no responsibility for any action you choose to take in tuning of the car in question..:p

Yeah, that's pretty much what I've read about handling the gears. The balance, I think, will be between maximum acceleration and getting to top speed in top gear on the straight, against time lost in loads of changes when the gears are all that much shorter.

57.695 with tc, sc, manual gears, and full line, using the pad

Just can't get much quicker than that right now

Try turning off TC. It'll take work in the corners, but it's worth it.

You will likely need to do some tuning to keep the back in without TC, though.

SC is, in my experience, worthless, so that can go as well, although it doesn't make too much difference when you're not racing for credits.
