Forza 5 Announced

How do you get to drive other cars? in free mode there doesn't seem to be that many?

Also, online, what category is everyone doing because i cant seem to find any races..and when i do, only 1 person is in the lobby.

Searching off that lead to a bunch of threads that do not make good reading.

Prior to their arrival it was said that ramping up the monetising would start in earnest nextgen and they seem to have got off to a flyer in FM5. The token inflation makes payday loan companies look reasonable.

Indeed. I nearly bought the season pass for cars, but I cannot condone such practices.

If they pull this **** with Forza 6, I'm done with the series.
 
Has anyone done the sums on driving time required to get some of the very best cars with fairly high difficulty? It kinda dawned on me earlier that the reality is with this game is that I'm not going to get to drive a lot of the cars unless they are gifted to me for some reason.
 
OMG I just looked at the prices of Tokens a McLaren P1 would cost about £15 in real money!! luckily I sink lots of hours into these and have plenty of credits but for many people they are not going to get to drive the good cars with none rewarded for races.

They've certainly built this game around making money, it ships with less cars yet it has a day 1 car pack DLC.

Buy the la Ferrari car pack = £10

Want to drive the la Ferrari? Oh, that's gonna be £15. I'm assuming here that it's not available to 'rent' in the free play.

i cant say i have noticed the quality like in the downgraded picture .... and im currently playing the game and it looks amazing so im not sure what the hell there talking about.

They were running it on PC/Xbox One Dev Kit.
Im fuming about the whole thing but then I cant say Im surprised really. Cant help but feel we've been lied to.

Awesome graphics, this is the future, this is the game you will play when its released blah blah blah....they lied. The end product looks nothing like it but hey, what can you do? :(
 
The thing is I'm really enjoying the game, it's my most played game so far on the Xbone by miles but yeah you feel cheated... the downgraded graphics are one thing but in reality a lot of the game is missing. It was obviously rushed to meet the release date of Xbone and you can't help but think what the game would have been like if it was finished properly, hopefully we will find out after a few updates and no doubt another £40 of DLC...

Sony got criticised for delaying Drive Club, maybe that was in the same situation and maybe they should have just released half the game like MS did.. personally I'd rather wait for the full "as intended" game.

BTW once a Multiplayer race has started is there any way to mute someones mic , i know you can do it before the race starts , but i mean once the race has started m as i am just out of a race where alll the mics were quiet untill we got to the grid,, then some tube started to blast his music which was deff not to my taste , so is it poss to mute peps like that ??

Has anyone got a link to what race gives you what credits and so on?

Was getting bored of the smaller races so thought I would try my F12 out, thinking one of the championships might pay out more given the car cost a bomb. Spent 50K upgrading the car for it, only to discover that the credits payout is the same???

Those E3 builds were running on 3970X/Geforce Titan systems, it was big news at the time.

The downgrade probably wouldn't have been as dramatic if they had targetted 720P, but I get the feeling they may have been pressured by Microsoft as Forza has been their 1080P poster child.

Microsoft has good reasons to skip the backwards compatibility as this allowed to implement a completely new and more powerful communication protocol. Of course they are happy to sell new controllers to you and earn money on licenses but keep in mind that a console is about plug and play. MS is very strong to provide a clear standard for controllers and make sure that all controllers work with all games of a certain genre. On other consoles it can happen that your brand new and official controller works only with one game because the communication protocols are not clearly defined from the beginning.

The only thing we can offer is to develop a wheel where you can at least use your peripherals so you don’t have to buy a complete new setup. And when this wheel is ready, we will make an attractive upgrade offer for all existing customers for sure.

This was a pretty long post with a lot of inside information but I hope you can understand the situation a bit better now.

So reading between the lines, Fanatec were probably naughty, circumvented the security chip and lost their license...
 
To me it reads more, we are so small fry with a niche product thats its uneconomical for us to support existing wheels on the next-gen consoles, but dont worry we will make a new one and offer you a slap-in-the-face discount for your troubles :p
