Forza Horizon 3 just shown at E3

Loving this game! I've put acouple of hours into it and its still awesome. I've not played a Horizon game before so I went into it like I was playing The Crew, but after some adjustment, it's awesome!

I've had to cap to 40fps to keep the jittering down, but it'll do for now.

Just did the 5 lap Goliath, unbeatable AI, no assists Sim damage....twice haha. 600k xp each time, think I had something like 30 wheel spins.

Just done 5 laps in the Viper HE, only got it at 60% payout, Ai was at highly skilled, will but it up next go as i lapped them all twice.

Made about 1.5 million and got the Subaru HE and the lamborghini countach from the spins :D

I've given up with PC version for now

been playing on Xbox One version on a 1080p 42 from 2 foot away and looks great and is smooth as silk (wouldn't guess it was 30 tbh)

Performance issues are more to do with the game not being very well optimised in terms of CPU, rather than GPU limitations.

This is definitely the case. My GPU clock fluctuates up and down so it isn't being fully utilised (not thermal throttling). It behaves like a CPU bottle neck but there is no way a 6600k at 4.4GHz (+25% oc) is a bottle neck! I think they'll fix it fairly quickly.

Lock the FPS to 30 and see how you get on.

Is it just PC snobbery stopping people from using the 30FPS lock to avoid all stuttering?

I get that 60FPS+ is preferred but I'm running the game maxed out on a mid-tier GPU and it runs great at 4K. In fact it's playing so well I've not even tried messing around with any settings at all as there's been no need to.

No, it's not snobbery. 30fps generally feels pretty bad in most games, especially racers and shooters, and can generate some input lag. It feels a lot worse than on consoles.

I'm not a PC elitist and I don't have to max the game but I expect it to run at 60fps at reasonable settings. 1070/4790k is no slouch.

If it runs bad, I'm willing to accept 30fps to avoid stuttering and upscale to 4k. However, I shouldn't have to.

Off to a great start, about 72 quid dropped on the ultimate edition and it won't even launch:rolleyes:

The window pops up for about three seconds and then closes. Is this a joke?

Avast already disable but no cigar.

Yup, everything's updated.

It suddenly started working on its own but it took 7 tries to get past the menus... Seems it's completely random. Windows Store is an utterly abysmal platform

On the plus side, it runs at locked 60fps completely maxed at 1440p including MSAAx4 with rather occasional slowdowns. However, when it does slow down the stutters can be IMMENSE.
I don't mind dropping settings though so maybe that'll help.

The game's great, it's my dream come true regarding racers but I'm afraid it'll act up and crash randomly like it does for many people.

Well despite having an aversion to paying that sort f price for a pc game i bit the bullet, bought a £50 XBox gift card from cdkeys, and got the game.

Just got to work out how to change my numberplate as i ballsed it up.

Why do Msoft games not allow you to set the volume via the normal mixer ? Damn annoying if trying to watch a show on other screen
