Forza Horizon 4

What is with the endless suplly of rewards like I am some kind of reward obsessed junkie, rewarded for everything I do it's meaningless, drive like a maniac through feilds get about 5 perk points, constant influence points, reel spin rewards, I haven't done anything but drive like crap. Its quite patronising really, the psychology of this is weird, its akin to candy crush.

I came 4th in one race and thought ah ill revist that to get gold, NO NEED! gold cup awarded for 4th anyway! everyone gets a trophy, Gold for 4th!!!!. Doesnt matter, do as badly as you like still progress at almost the same pace.

I guess the rewind thing has been discussed to death but its new to me, just laughable, whats happened to actually trying things again, that sense of achievement that comes from perseverance, trial and error, I guess that is lost on the hipster generation who would rather spend time dressing up thier character in skinny jeans and customising thier dancing....

Aside from that the controls are ace, super slick, ive never played a racer that holds solid frame rate so well when 8 cars munch through a congested turn, looks brilliant, lots to do.

Will play for a few weeks on gamepass but cannot seriously see why anyone would spend 80quid on ultimate when it can be had for free, makes no sense, what difference does it make if you got a few new coloured cars and a new cape for your character

For as much as I'm enjoying this game, this is absolutely spot on, a fantastic post. You share the exact thoughts I have to the absolute T.
 
Why can't I just buy one months access? I can renew for a month at 7.99 but I've just updated my security info and now it wants me to wait a month before I can buy things. But I can't use a key

Yeah spot on, and this is extremely annoying. I can't help but feel it might be a symptom of the 'everyone's a winner' epidemic, that habit many schools have of giving every kid a trophy so as no one feels left out and excluded. It's an utterly insane mentality and for me does ruin the experience somewhat... I would actually like to feel I've WORKED for my rewards! Whatever happened to that? I know it's a game but come on, it's really beyond absurd how far they've taken this in Horizon 4.

Yea, actually growing a bit tired of it this afternoon, what am I trying for, I just got 7th place in a street race, GOLD CUP! race completed! What!:confused: I still can't get over this, I want to return to all the races and 1st place everything but does it even keep tabs? certainly doesn't on the map icons. I haven't tried coming last yet but I assume it still gives you Gold Cup. Everyone's a winner!

The attempt to make it inclusive is at the expense of actual gamers, seeing this trend a lot on my return to gaming, appeal to the lowest common denominator but like you said its absurd how far they have taken it. When you reward everything, rewards become hollow and meaningless, I see this is trying to appeal to the OCD collect everything, level up everything mentality but there's really nothing to it but simply putting in the time, just crash into everything constantly get loads of points, job done, all those little signs to smash are on the map so just go fetch them that will use up a few hours, how's that a game?!. First game I've played that treats you like a king for being totally crap, the illusion of achievement and ability, if you didn't know better you would think you were brilliant at the game swamped with glories every 3.4 seconds. Urgh its very condescending, surely we haven't reached the stage of needing constant feedback of approval to maintain an interest, gamers are smart and have more determination than that, this is Forza Candy Crush. The 7th place just now netted me pretty much what I normally get for winning, hard to tell as its constantly bombarding you with all sorts of points and credits. Stupid, feels like a mobile phone game, next it will be asking me to buy pointless things for real money.....oh wait....

Could be so good, engine is amazing, if was like burnout, strip the BS, collecting crap, playing dress up and have medal system that reflects ability and has challenges to keep you coming back. You know like an actual game

That's the thing, I understand if new people are coming in it might not be for them, but this system works for a lot of people who will keep coming back - as with everything its a matter of opinion :)

Anyone who has never used game pass want a 1 month trial? I have a code I can't use.
 
Apparently you don't even need an xbox live sub to have other people in your session either, although I haven't tried to race anyone.
