Forza Horizon 4

My thoughts after 5 hours, bare in mind i've not gamed in a long time and did most of my gaming years ago and have not played other Forza's

Too much waffle, can't skip pointless talking.

What is with the endless suplly of rewards like I am some kind of reward obsessed junkie, rewarded for everything I do it's meaningless, drive like a maniac through feilds get about 5 perk points, constant influence points, reel spin rewards, I haven't done anything but drive like crap. Also no matter what you do in a race you get rewarded, come 7th thats fine, you will get almost as much as if you came first with a perfect run, the difference between the two is irrelevant as you are overloaded with rewards. Its quite patronising really, the psychology of this is weird, its akin to candy crush.

I came 4th in one race and thought ah ill revist that to get gold, NO NEED! gold cup awarded for 4th anyway! everyone gets a trophy, Gold for 4th!!!!. Doesnt matter, do as badly as you like still progress at almost the same pace.

I guess the rewind thing has been discussed to death but its new to me, just laughable, whats happened to actually trying things again, that sense of achievement that comes from perseverance, trial and error, I guess that is lost on the hipster generation who would rather spend time dressing up thier character in skinny jeans and customising thier dancing....

Aside from that the controls are ace, super slick, ive never played a racer that holds solid frame rate so well when 8 cars munch through a congested turn, looks brilliant, lots to do.

Will play for a few weeks on gamepass but cannot seriously see why anyone would spend 80quid on ultimate when it can be had for free, makes no sense, what difference does it make if you got a few new coloured cars and a new cape for your character

I agree with lots of your points. But I believe the VIP pass only comes with the Ultimate edition. And this gives double credits for every race finished.

All of the races that you can do solo just seem like fluff I agree and don't have any really meaning other than to pat you on the back for very little effort. But the real fun is in the multi-player part of the game I've found.

Anyone else getting fuzzy/distorted sound? I've only found fixes for no sound so far.
Also getting HDR to work seams to be a pain although it was also bad with Forza 7.
I was also getting the low streaming bandwidth warning but it has stopped since I lowered some settings.

It's a bit temperamental isn't it. If I turn off the dynamic performance thing to try and increase anti-aliasing the game run won't again until I reset it back to defaults.

My immersion has been ruined by the lack of pot holes, no where near enough speed cameras, no chavs in hoodies trying to steal my fancy cars ands the houses all seem to be fancy stone mansions. Where are the council estates, although I haven't unlocked the north east yet.

The gritters are pretty accurate though, driving around not spreading anything.

Doesn't the Neds version come with the Glasgow addon?

I feel like the cars have too much grip, even more so than FH3 and especially in the snow, don't know if it's just me.

I like the look of this and am tempted to purchase. I've not bought a game for a few years!

Two questions

1. Do you have to pay extra/Subscribe to play online/Multiplayer
2. Will my GTX960 GC be ok? I've got the Demo downloading so I guess that'll answer my question

No but you have 2 options to get it, you can either buy it or subscribe to xbox game pass.

if you havent had a xbox game pass trial previously you can get a 1 month game pass from cdkeys for £2.50

When I added the key to the windows store it gave me the option to enable recurring payments to get a extra month for free. I was then able to disable that option afterwards.

after those 2 months it will cost about £7.99 a month iirc

2. Your 960 might struggle a little unless you lower some of the settings, there was a handy video below benching a lot of older GPUs and the 960 doesn't fare very well at ultra settings. That is from an intensive benchmark though so you may see better results during normal gameplay.

For those playing with a wheel, try lowering the sensitivity in the advanced wheel settings in game. I would uncontrollably spin out 9/10 corners but I lowered the sensitivity to 30 and it seems much more controllable now. This is with a G920 setup.
I have a question though, is there any way to get the Xbox buttons to display when using the wheel? They do with a controller but not when using the G920 (which funnily enough is also compatible with the Xbox One).

Yes, it will be fine. I'm using a GTX970 at 1440p on high settings and am 60fps most of the time. Game is very well optimised imo.
