Solar panels or mortgage overpayment would make the most sense, but other than that would have to be something that I couldn't otherwise do like a trip to Disneyland or similar with the kids

I don't think this is a good place to find interesting uses for 10k.
No one has called it life changing money, it's just going to polish the existing comfort level.
And I'd do the same. Might motivate some house repairs if they'd be "free", rest into savings.

Ummmm i as the top revenue earner in my hospital restaurant, I already own multiple Gucci belts....
I'd probably say 2 great holidays or boringly overpay the mortgage but that's really boring..

£10k is about 2% of my mortgage balance, so it would barely touch the sides. So depressing.
