Free £10,000.. what would you do with it?

I want to say that is life changing but for most people here on this forum, and this country, it will just pays a few bills, perhaps for a few months. More comfort, but life stays the same.

I would....fix my car and pay for service and MOT. Pay for my next trip's hotel and flight (£800), save the rest.

I thought about that, but mine only has 14 months left at 3%. So saving the bulk of it at 5.8% is better in my position.

I would probably put half into my mortgage, and use the other half to change the kitchen (or contribute towards, seeing how expensive kitchens are).

£10k is about 2% of my mortgage balance, so it would barely touch the sides. So depressing.

With that in mind I'd probably...stick it into my mortgage.

It would be depressing if that hadn't almost certainly bought you a lovely house. Unless of course you are in central London, in which case enjoy your tent

Edit: If you location is accurate you should have a mansion up there for that sort of mortgage!
