Free £10,000.. what would you do with it?

A holiday. Finish getting the house how I want it including buying a few new things. Then carry on with the rat race largely the same but tanned and with more jobs done.

Probably blow it all on a week long golfing retreat up in Scotland for me and my dad. I skrimp every month making sure I save enough, a one off sum like that would be used purely for pleasure.

I won a similar amount from a tribunal a few years ago.

Essentials: replaced my 30 y/o boiler, replaced all radiators, new vacuum cleaner, garden tidy up operation (tree surgeons) and been over-paying my mortgage while it's still fixed at 2.80%

Not essential: bought myself my 1st ever TV as never had one before + hired TV technician to fix it up with satellite

It would be depressing if that hadn't almost certainly bought you a lovely house. Unless of course you are in central London, in which case enjoy your tent :p

Edit: If you location is accurate you should have a mansion up there for that sort of mortgage!
Yes location accurate and we have a 5 double-bed detached with a large garden, quiet cul de sac down leafy country lane but walking distance from a nice town. It's great but definitely not a mansion. House prices round here are actually quite expensive since the covid bubble.

£10k................. it would go in my "early" retirement pot.
i recently bought a car for a lot (for me at least) of money, and it was only after buying it i sat down and realised that with careful living that money could have been 3 years of early retirement. (ok realistically maybe 2 years)

the car is fantastic............ but not as great as my old car and retiring 2 or 3 years earlier.
