Free Shipping for Loyal Forum Members

Reduced shipping to NI !!
Well no more free shipping to NI, although not everyone knew nor was it stated but we did used to get it,
So I find myself asking, was this to help OC costs or its NI members

I know it may sound blunt sorry

Just noticed that, I was just about to buy a psu from here simply because of the free postage but with postage added in a competitor has a better psu for the same price.

another lost sale,
all for what is meant to help get more NI customers !! and reward the loyal ones.

Will OC see what they have done i wonder, , ,or will it even matter to them

Ended up picking up a CoolerMaster real power m700 off members market but I was seriously eying up this as I am a big OCZ fan. Might still pick up some ram off here tho as anything posted via Royal Mail still seems to have free postage which makes sense as royal mail don't have surge charges for NI.

So free shipping to Northern Ireland is gone? Well I can't see me ordering from Overclockers again unless I see some ridiculously good offer, which lets be honest, doesn't happen often around here. :(

starting to look like this "improvment" was for OC costs and not loyal customers

Yes royal mail was free, but it seems like anything more than ram is'nt now!

I admit I joined this forum just for the fact that you get free shipping but since coming here it's won me over. It must be something to do with not having to deal with Americans :D

Now all you guys have to do is open up a shop in the south because Stoke is miles away.

...my personal goal is to get 1,000 posts. Nothing better than a good market place, anything is better than eBay.

Real shame to see the free delivery to NI go. I used the free DX service several times. I suppose on a positive note I'll have more money in the bank as I have stopped making impulse purchases. Nearly bought a new rad for my watercooling setup but since the postage was 25% of the item cost I didn't bother.

Hi DrSteve, I feel the same thats why i posted my thoughts,,

Wonder if OC are saving much by this change ? although i presume sales to NI are down.

There's been no change to northern ireland forum offers, we stopped the DX trial due to reliability issues and as a side-effect the free NI delivery stopped.

In a separate decision though we did reduce NI delivery charges (as well as scottish highlands/islands) to the same rate as UK mainland for all customers - this is still a 'wait and see' move as it is a loss making exercise, somewhat like forum shipping. If that becomes permanent we can look at the costs of reducing or making free for forum members.

What we can't do is bring in courier options to the detriment of our UK Mainland customers just because they are cheaper for NI and the numbers involved are un-economic to justify a carrier just for NI.

Oh and what has caseking got to do with it? Spie didn't decide to trial DX, I did, just as I decided the trial was not to continue. What Spie did do is remove the 50% reduction forum members originally got in NI/Scottish highlands/islands. Something which, give or take a few quid, all customers are now getting.

It does sadden me when I see posts saying that we must do this or that or you'll never shop with OcUK though. It is of course your right but I assumed 'loyal forum member' also meant 'loyal ocuk user', I'm not so sure anymore.

Sorry disregard my last post!

I thought it was no more free shipping at all for any items (for any of the couriers) from reading the posts above :o

But checking some products out just now against my order history, not much has changed at all, thankfully!

Back in my good books again OCUK! :D :p

Well, with what I originally thought, I presumed that this was a move by caseking to maximise their profits especially considering they only bought OCUK a few months ago and is something that I would not expect the OCUK employees to endorse going by the customer service, posts on these forums etc.

As for loyal forum member and loyal ocuk user, those are 2 different things really, this is how I would define them:

loyal forum member = someone who posts here a lot and joins in with the community across the sub forums being helpful etc.

loyal ocuk user = someone who will only buy from the OCUK shop and no where else even if somewhere is a good bit cheaper :p

I am a loyal forum member but if I see somewhere else that has an item for cheaper (more than £5) including delivery then I will get it from that place instead :p

Well we'll just have to work harder to make buying from OcUK such a great experience you'd never even consider going elsewhere :)
