Free Shipping for Loyal Forum Members

So no free shipping at all for us up here now. Just went to order a set of 20 Akasa Silcon mounts (£3.59) and a Akasa Fan/Psu noise reduction kit (£3.98) and delivery was £8.95 for DPD or £11.98 for RMSD. Postage is more than the items cost. Sorry but that's a joke. Needless to say i got them elsewhere.

A member of staff mentioned that they'd been incorrectly not charging people, while DPD had been charging OcUK.

DPD have a very broad definition of the highlands, and they seem to include some of the area around Aberdeen which is certainly not highlands. I thought Aberlour was just in the highlands though?

We have a AB38 postcode. Highlands is IV.

Anyway, that's beside the point. Why the hell is'nt there a cheaper option for postage? What i was trying to order would have cost less than £2 via Royal Mail 1st class. Why only DPD or the stupidly expensive RMSD option for something that would fit in a tiny Jiffy bag?

i just ordered stuff 5 mins ago..... i did not get free shipping :mad:

i had to pay £13

The compensation available for the loss of something sent First Class is a lot less than using Special Delivery.

You can fit some expensive items in a jiffy bag.

OcUK aren't going to use a delivery method which doesn't cover the value of the goods.

Whilst true, the goods he'd ordered (presuming they wet the same
As he mentioned above) then the value is lees than £10 which 1st class insurance covers.

Ah, I missed that.

Assuming it is the same goods then those of us with free delivery could have them using DPD next day.

Free courier next day delivery on £7.57 worth of goods.

Not much profit in that for OcUK.

I'd hav thought they could've just sent it with RM first class, I though that's what they usually do with lower value goods.

You'd think so.

I put the same goods into my OcUK basket and it came up with free DPD next day delivery.

I may be wrong - but I think the delivery options you get are dependant on quantity of items and weight of aforementioned items :p Maybe they're too heavy to have RM deal with it?

They surely don't pay for each item every time they need to send something out? like someone who would only be using the service once every now and again rather than 24/7

wouldn't they have a "deal" with DPD or something? that's what i always thought anyway

I'm sure will have some sort of deal.

But it won't be £x for however many packages they send.

They'll have a contract paying monthly, or whatever, based on the total packages/weight/size shipped.

One way or another every package shipped will be paid for.
