FreeSync coming next month! (?)

Not to be a pedant but he doesn't work on it, he's a PR robot.

That is pedant, and he really isn't. He has a huge number of patents under his name. So many that one can only assume he does this for kicks these days.

Hardly the same background as the aforementioned.

EDIT, oh as it turns out including this particular one lol.

Again Gsync limit is the 30hz, have you used or seen Freesync running at or below 30hz? I guess not so how can you say it will look bad?

Because it will?!

Removing tearing and perceptible frame drops is where GSync and FreeSync will shine.

30 FPS is 30 FPS is 30FPS. Go force your monitor into 30Hz fixed refresh rate, fire up a game and engine lock it to 30FPS. Play it. It's going to look and, more importantly, FEEL terrible.

Then why does 30fps on a console feel so much different than on a PC? 30hz with this sync tech should also reduce motion blur ??
Isn't that another bonus?

I don't think you realise the intention of motion blur.

Also, consoles at 30 FPS feels naff.

I downsampled 4K at 30HZ, GTA 4, it ran 30 FPS, locked. Still felt awful.

I think Free-Sync working at below 30 FPS is quite important, i very much doubt 9 FPS is anything like smooth even with Free-Sync, but 24< FPS is, i think its important to make it available across the full spectrum so those with entry level GPU's or APU's 'that can't always maintain 30+ FPS' still get the benefit of Free-Sync Smoothieness...

Where have I once said it will be better? I said it "could" be better, based on the information given to us.

You're making it sound like it's going to revolutionise lower frame rates.
Ergo, better.

I'm all there with you about Freesync supporting a larger range of frequencies, but until it's out and about, it's moot.

No I sure do full understand the reason behind motion blur. ;)

Console games like GTA or any that run at 30fps feel and run fine to me. The thing that put them down is the high amount of motion blur to smooth the image out.

Thats the main reason for Motion blur, is to blend the frame together to smooth the image out.

So, 24 FPS on Freesync is smooth? Did your crystal ball tell you this?

Could have sworn motion blur had an impact on frame rate perception.........

Take AC4, with its motion blur, at 30 FPS, it doesn't feel as bad as a lot of other games at 30 FPS can.

I keep quoting that range, because that's the information we have. Of course 9fps isn't going to be playable, anyone with a brain would understand that.

So there's basically little point using that to say that's why it could be better. How many people here are going to be happy playing their games below 30 fps sync or not, input lag will be unbearable for one at those framerates, sync can't fix that at such low frames.

Its smooth on consoles because the frames are consistent, it will be the same on Desktops.

I don't think you've actually used consoles for any prolonged period of time.
Pretty sure 30HZ on a desktop environment is consistent. Go run 30 HZ and move your mouse, tell me how smooth it is.

Go play GTA 5 on an Xbox 360, tell me how consistent and smooth it is.
Pro tip. It's not.

Consoles use motion blur to help with frame rate perception. But the Xbox 360/PS3 are fine from smooth lol.

Not to mention the input lag, driving was painful at high speed as your turning wouldn't react instantly. I played it on a Sony TV widely regarded as one of the best for input lag as well.

Now your just trying to force conjecture down peoples neck, there are millions of Console gamers who play at those frame rates who would argue it is smooth.

Its certainly smooth enough for most, even without Free-Sync.

Remember not every gamer, is an OCUK member. They is more PC gamers out ther on lower/medium end hardware than higher end.

The lower frame rate and Freesync could help them a lot. And input lag isn't this ment to be fixed when the GPU is telling the Display when to refresh? Input lag with Vsync was because the Display had a delay in refresh.
