French Open Tennis 2017

I am a fan of Kei and felt that he was somewhat eclipsed by 'The top four' when he was younger. His playing style is not what people consider particularly exciting or exotic on the surface and this imo often makes people overlook his incredible backhand, solid ground strokes and the way he often takes balls early to hit a winner off of good solid serves or returns with a lot of pressure. Everytime i watch him play a top opponent it surprises me how well rounded his game is and how good each part of it is, it shouldnt really considering his ranking and how long he has been up there :D

I am not watching the match atm as i am at work but considering who is playing, i wouldn't put the score down to weak serves but rather good returns and fluctuations in mentality

What a point :o

Edit: Murray through in four sets :)

Got to give him credit, I never thought he would turn around his season in such dramatic fashion but another semi final, given his run of form prior to the tournament, is another amazing achievement.

Stan wins in straight sets though.

You've done your part, I'll do mine and quote it. :)

Quite some turnaround in the match although I can't help wishing Murray didn't regularly lose the first set before remembering to turn up and play. Still given his form earlier in the season I think he'd have taken getting to the semi-finals quite happily and let's see if he can get further.

Only watched this last set but Murray looks shocking. Is he injured, serving poorly or just mentally beaten again?

Edit: So it was a combination of tiredness and having a women's serve then. Good luck in the final Wawrinka, you're gonna need it.

Pity Murray couldn't capitalise in the 4th set but Wawrinka was the better player overall. Still it shows that Murray has played himself into some kind of form and a semi-final at Roland Garros is still a decent result for him, I just hope he can build on it going into Wimbledon.

Well done to Nadal, another three set victory and another bagel to finish. If he keeps up this kind of form Wawrinka will have to play one hell of a match to beat him.

Murray had no legs in that last set. Brilliant match, Stan was hitting thunderous ground strokes by the end. No one ever really mentions him when talking about the fittest players on tour but his stamina is insane to be able to maintain such heavy hitting throughout.

As for Thiem Nadal didn't even have to play that well, he just tanked. The same happened in Rome, he played lights out tennis to beat Nadal then just bottled it against Djokovic. It's a shame but he'll keep improving.

This could be one hell of a final come Sunday. I have to back Rafa with his record against Stan and on clay this year but when he's on form Wawrinka plays some of the best tennis I've ever seen (the final against a top form Djokovic in 2015 was amongst the all time great performances). Can't wait!

I can't watch this without muting the volume and then it feels wrong watching a 20 year old running around in a short skirt with no noise :o

If players can be penalised for slow play why not for being too ******* noisy and distracting their opponent?

Edit: Great final so far and the very definition of attack vs defence.

3-0 down yet she didn't change the way she was playing. Every shot is an attempt at a winner, it's amazing to watch tbh.

Edit: Her average forehand speed is faster than Murrays FFS!
