Fuel - Codemasters

hmm the the amount of people saying its crap, compared to the people saying its ok, makes it hard to decide, if i could find a digital download for it, id most likley hand over the cash for it.

What is the little gauge next to the speedo about? It looks like a boost gauge or something, but there doesn't seem to be a boost - anybody tell me what it measures or is for? Seems to go up and down during races but can't see what it relates to

no boost.

to beat AI you need to take short cuts

I find to beat AI you need faster cars, where the AI take shortcuts you also need to take shortcuts obviously.

i think it shows the damage of the car... when you reach the top and crash it respawns you :)

i have played for a few hours now and i can say to beat AI you need to think where you are going.. if a car is not good at off roading try and stay on the road it will be faster... if a car is good at off roading you can do a lot of shorts cuts... i have opened half of the world already.. :) im now on 8 or 9th camp.. :)

todays graphics, last century's gameplay

ps1 racing games had far better gameplay and thats no exaggeration at all

Nail -> head.

Don't know if it's been said as I can't be a**ed to rad though all the thread, but that engine should have been used in a Fallout 3 style post-apocalyptic free-roaming rpg.

Hi all,

I seem to be having a problem with saving the game. I always get "save failed" message. My key was accepted and when the game starts, my GFWL account logs in fine.

Doing a quick google search leads to one possible culprit - Kaspersky av. I set fuel exe as a trusted program and still no joy?

Has anybody else have this problem?

So annoyed with games discs lately and buying on release!

Fuel.exe is potentially not the file writing the game saves. Firstly you can try running it as administrator (if you're on Vista). Secondly pull the internet cable and then disable your AV - then try it (the reason for pulling the cable is so you don't go on the net without an AV).

If that works then try excluding the directory from Kaspersky - or try fiddling around until you find the correct file.

Ive played it a while.... its massive...

But its let down by:

Collision Physics from the original Ridge Racer
Cut and Paste environments, meaning mile after mile of the same repeated trees or scrubs
The ability to drive everywhere at full throttle, never using the breaks

Its fun, but Im bored of it already.

It measures Damage.

not too impressed by this game :(
Like above reasons its really big but its quite boring to explore
Its kind of full throttle no breaking required etc
Graphics are quite nice but seems very repatative scenery
AI doesnt seem the best and crashing into other drivers is meh

I loaded the demo.
But as it's loading, i get a message saying,

FUEL has stoped working.

Problem signature
problem event name APPCRASH.... ECT ETC.

Anyone know why..
It's on vista64bit.

Cheers.

Seems an OK game, basically a poor man's TDU with less bugs.
The sense of speed is lacking at times though, I mean just see how slowly you come up on objects like trees when travelling at 60mph and compare that to what it's like in real life (not that I'm suggesting you drive directly at trees at 60mph!). Also the mavity seems too low or something, it's too easy for large trucks to grab airtime.

I've played 5h20 so far and can see myself getting bored, still haven't really figured out what to do in freeroam mode though, I've just been going around the first 6-7 camps doing career/challenges.
