Fuel price discussion thread (was ‘chaos’)

Most of supermarkets are charging 1.72 by me now for boggo petrol, I drove to Costco, and the queues were mad, the brum one is doing unleaded for 162.9. Shame i dont live closer to costco, it would save me a packet all things considering.

Really??? Getting seriously expensive now
Yep 176.9 I think it was just now and it was 168.9 iirc at 5am, values may be slightly off as I didn't want to be awake at 5am but it's definitely a chunky increase for under 12 hours

Saw someone fill up a pickup on sunday was just shy of £100. Thought £1.71 for unleaded at Asda was expensive turned out it was the cheapest for miles around Sainsburys is £1.72 or 3 thats the closest everything else including Shell is silly money

Just short of £150 for a full tank on mine currently :(

Its probably if they have fuel from a previous delivery they sell cheaper, as soon as a new tanker comes in they update the price. Wholesale costs have jumped a lot apparently.

It is in some places. Well almost. Local garage has it at £1.99.99 per litre atm.

176 here for unleaded, but the next station(usually cheaper) was 186.

I don't drive much anyway so I'm fairly shielded from it. My mum owns a couple of stations with BP franchises, it's not all milk and honey I can assure you. Drive offs are up massively as well.

Seems strange that all local supermarket stations have jumped by roughly the same amount in the last two days if that's how they decide it.

Presumably they all have regular deliveries and updated their pricing. Supermarkets aren't usually the ones who raise prices on existing stock but never rule it out.

Think it was 182.9ppl to fill up my M3 with Super last night, over £80 for 3/4 of a tank. Which will be nearly empty in two days once I’m back from Heathrow, the joy!

We've got a guy at work who recently (as in just before the prices went nuts) bought a 5L V8 Range Rover - he is loving life...
I'm glad I sold my 350Z in the middle of the pandemic. Wasn't getting used much anyway as it was my 2nd car but with prices of V-power now.......not sure it'd have much interest!

Well one of my lazy ass neighbours has finally stopped driving the 1/3 mile to the local shop now, and instead he is walking, in his words "Costs me more in fuel that what I spend in the shop" obviously an exaggeration, but I have no idea how people end up this lazy in the first place. Maybe more people will try and cut out pointless car use if the costs stay high, a win-win for some who can do that.

Not that it was bought for this reason, but I'm glad I've recently got a 65mpg Citroen C1 commute car and can park up the 18mpg RS6 instead of commuting in it

I worked out that it will only take a few years for the cost of the C1 to have been recovered by the savings in petrol (saving at least £750 per year so far).
