Fuel price discussion thread (was ‘chaos’)

Well, went to Shell, VPower £2.04.9... so slapped 1 gallon in which I then filled up at Tesco Momentum for £189.90 and wasn't out of way but my light was on and with a 6.1ltr engine you don't take chances hahaha 1 gallon gets me off the driveway :-)

I know this is crystal ball stuff, but is this just going to be the future of fuel now? Just continual ramping of pricing and we as minions on they ground just have to suck it up. There was a artical in the paper the other day (NZ) any the boffen was saying that this trend is not going away.

It will go back to normal after the massive incoming recession is over. Don't forget that the massive increase in fuel is going to lead to increased costs in the haulage industry which will just get passed onto the consumer.

Some industry experts reckon high fuel prices are here to stay and will continue to go up every year (by a smaller margin than this year but up to 20% each year) and by 2025 fuel at the pumps will be £3 per litre.

Not sure if serious? If more and more people move to alternative fuels / power then there will be less demand. Unless they’re thinking there will also be a lot less supply?

Then it'll be "Niche products attract a higher price", basically we're getting bent over either way.

Even before Ukraine oil producers were winding down investment in production as they pivoted towards renewable energy. A lot depends whether we kiss and make up with Russia but assuming most of the world doesnt, the removal of the Russian oil from the markets will keep prices high with demand outstriping supply.

So far the high fuel prices have only seen a 5% drop in the amount of fuel been bought at the pumps in the US so demand would need to drop much much lower.

$139 a barrel is expected to be seen again this year and our currency keeps dropping against the US dollar so every time it hits that high, the cost is much higher at the pumps.

So yes, less supply and certainly for several years, demand will outstrip supply unless there is a massive world recession (which they could be)
