Fuel price discussion thread (was ‘chaos’)

If oil comes from iran why would their attack lower oil prices?

Because there were questions over what retaliation Israel would take and when, and to hurt a country you might not only target their military installations but also wealth generating facilities! Ie oil supply infrastructure. Isn't that obvious?

I think the US stance has help calm things hence the reduction in prices.

Fundamentally I think the original statement was a bit misleading which has led to the confusion - prices did not fall because of the attack by Iran. They fell (only very slightly) after the attack because of the geopolitical aftermath of the attack and stance from US etc as mentioned, with the expectation of the attack having already been priced in.

Finally got one of them Esso cards for price off fuel... waste if time as the esso garages are like 4 p more so pointless.

Getting to mid 150s now for diesel.. annoying creeping up again

No difference in prices here the little independent used to be massively expensive as much a 10-15p more than the supermarkets now they're all the same I don't even bother to look at the price anymore they're all the same i.e. expensive.

The lowest petrol prices I saw is £1.27 a litter, for e10 Asda Milton Keynes. Anyone else seen prices this low for a while? What's driving the low prices and will this last?. Even if the trend doesn't last, still a bit of positive news, considering everything else going up.

Petrol/Diesel prices have been falling slowly for while, diesel is around £1.34 where I live, the drop is likely a side effect from Ukraine destroying all those Russian refineries forcing Russia to pump more crude to make up for the lost revenues. As above I don't get use to it, I would expect the chancellor to increase duties to plug this black hole in the countries finances.
