Fuel up/down again

I love the fact that the local Shell garage is almost if not always on par with prices with local supermarkets, at most it is only 1p more.

I paid 125.9 at Sainsburys in Swindon near the Porsche dealer. I was driving past so seemed wise to brim the tank.
Local Tesco is 128.9 and I just got a 5p off for that too.

1.309 for petrol and 1.349 for diesel at the local Gulf garage which consistently manages to beat the Tesco garage a couple of miles down the road by 2-3p every time I drive past.

Not as good as anyone else in the last couple of pages it seems, but at least the prices are still going in the right direction as they've dropped by 2p in the last day.

I wonder what goes into V power. I know you can increase the RON of fuel by adding ethanol which reduces the overall energy content. Shell keep the ethanol content of vpower quiet though. I wonder if it's actually cheaper to make high RON fuel by bunging some ethanol in it and sell it for more.

It was once 5p, then 7p, last month I paid 10p more than regular unleaded price for it.

Super/Optimax were 5ppl more

V-power was at 7p more
V-power diesel launched at 6p more, then about a year later went to 7p.

then both went to 8p at same time a while ago

Does V-Power yield better economy in the 530i? I have just been using normal 95RON stuff

The M54 engine is designed for 98 RON fuel - as the manual explains. If you run 95 you get slightly reduced power and economy from the engine.

Personally I mostly use Sainsburys Super Unleaded - though tis 97 - mostly for convenience sake (Shell is 10 miles outside of town).

gone up 1p here, 1.329 for standard Tesco95. 1.409 for Shell VPower... Sigh.

basildon? its been cheaper in basildon than southend, by about 5p, for a couple months. this morning a few places in southend finally went down to 129.9 but lastnight shell wanted 139.9 for SUL, given that there was such a differential, they hadnt lowered their price, and tesco was shut, i put in a tank of normal UL in protest
