Fuel

I'm a brimmer as well. Fill it up in both cars (costs around £90 per month) once a month

I wait until the range left says 10-20 miles left, and full to the brim. Average a fill up every 2 weeks or less, depending on weekend mileage.

I've had around 430 miles to 60 litres of petrol over the last few tanks.

I usually fill it right to the top, then wait 5 seconds & I can usually trickle another litre or two in until I can see it in the filler neck.

Not sure how much it costs to fill up as I use the fuel so it is irrelevant and never pay any attention to the pump, I always use V-Power diesel and usually get 675 - 750 miles to a tank, usually with me filling up when the trip computer reads 10-30 miles remaining (MK3 Mondeo Diesel)

I don't use V-Power for any performance benefit, just to keep my moon mileage engine clean, a recent EGR removal revealed next to no crud build up. :)

Why do people do it - 10p a litre more for nothing :(

I also still get some parts from the dealer such as the fuel filter & still use decent fully synthetic oil in a 2003 car that has been to the moon mileage wise, seems to be paying off as it's still got it's factory fitted injectors.

93 Octane is fairly rare and isn't sold in quite a number of States - and still isn't as good as 98 RON European fuel.

Depends where you are, it's the standard premium fuel in most places on the east coast. I've only really seen 91 AKI premium recently in parts of Maine. Admittedly on the west coast in states like California the highest you can get is 91 though.

Also 93 AKI is probably better than 99 RON V-Power if this data sheet is still accurate. 86 + 99.2 / 2 = 92.6 AKI ;)

Usually every Monday morning I'm in the red and fill it up as much as it will go! About £60 a week in fuel for 370-400 miles.

Used to be in the half fill crowd, back when a half fill lasted nearly 2 weeks, but not i just brim it as it cant make the fuel economy any worse than it already is.

Fortunately theres a petrol station on my way out of town so no detour at all.

I tend to go for premium these days, i found while i was commuting to tech that the cost per mile was basically the same, and the engine running smoother is always nice

I'm sure I've asked before, but the diesel just has cleaning agents and stuff in it doesn't it? Because you can't really make 'super diesel'.

It must do something surely, but it probably isn't worth using all the time...

Really? So it's best to take a thread that is covering one subject (albeit perhaps a little silly), and instead turn it into a discussion we've had before?

That's what happens on forums. People discuss things. Just like you are now discussing what we should and should not discuss instead of discussing fuel in a thread called 'Fuel' :p
