Fuji X Series

The X-T30 II is light years ahead of my old 20. Definitely worth the upgrade.

However it’s started burst shooting 3 frames in S mode and I’ve no idea how to turn it off. Any ideas?

The shutter sounds like it is taking 3 images and when I turn the shutter sound off it still makes the same noise. In auto it just sounds like it’s taking 1 photo.

Is there a weird setting somewhere I’ve turned on that’s causing this?

To me it sounds like you have enabled either Bracketing or CL (continuous low) drive mode.
When you say you have turned the shutter sound off, that only applies to the Electronic Shutter - the mechanical shutter will always make a sound.

Sorry for late reply. It turned out to be HDR mode. When enabled the shutter goes three times (when in S drive but sounds like CL). Turned it off and that solved the problem.

Yes being a muppet with regard to the sound. I had it MS only hence the noise!

Well sussed! I didn’t even consider HDR mode (didn’t know the 30 had it :o ) but glad you got sorted.

Hmm, been very busy so only had a play with the X-T30 last night but cut short by the fact that they seemed to have forgotten to put the battery in? Had a double check and refurbished products suppose to have them included.

Guess going to find out how good their customer support is.

Update on the X-T30 II.

Absolutely love it. Although I miss having the physical d-pad style thing on the back that was on my XT20. I don't like using the swipe gestures on the screen, I preferred the buttons. In fact I had touch disabled on my XT20 as I find I always touch the screen by accident and mess up the focusing. Also starting to wish there was an ISO dial. Maybe I should just get the X-T5 but I love the design and size of the X-Txx series. Decisions.

Been toying with getting back into photography now my kids are growing up means I have more "me time" the MBP site has some nice refurbished X-T30 units, would like to use for family, landscape type shots - would £500 - £700 be a good camera with lens to start me off again?

Thanks all!

X-T3 is where the bargain money is at the moment. I've seen a few now at £600. People were asking £800 only a few months ago!

Thanks bud! As a novice what would be a good all-rounder lens for me to start with would you say.....

Depends on your budget.

I personally lean towards the XT (single digit) series because of the more sturdy body, but the double digit ones are just as good, the internals are the same, so the IQ are the same. The corners are cut in the metal/plastic ratio and a few other things that doesn't effect IQ.

What would your use case be?
Don't forget to leave a decent chunk of your budget for a lens - I know you've asked for recommendations.
As mentioned above, I reckon the X-T3 is the best bang for buck right now (although it has been for a while) but if it comes down to X-T3 & a mediocre lens or an X-T30 and a good lens than the latter would be my recommendation. You can always 'upgrade' to X-T3 if you outgrow the X-T30 too quickly - but a good lens will always stay.

I come back to your use case, as this should define what lens is best.

good all-rounder lens

For walk about I like a zoom for the flexibility, the 18 - 55mm is solid. I then like a prime lens with a wider aperture for indoors/lower light/dat bokeh. You can keep things sensible and go for something like the 35mm f2 or go for something tasty like the 33mm 1.4. Depends on what focal length you like also.

I'd be lost as to which 18 - 55mm I'd even start looking at  I might do some more research and pop back in, thanks all ;)

The body is like the cheapest part of the set up as you move up.
Now I’m starting to remember what cost what when I had my previous small amount of camera gear, I just love framing, capturing moments, almost all the pictures on our house Walls are what Ive taken using my high end iPhones so I want to get back into it as it! Thanks again …. much appreciated

Pick up (or at least look into) the X100T for about the same money.

It’s not for everyone but if you are looking for the shooting experience, the X100 series has that and charm in spades. It would also put a lid on any lens purchases (mostly).
