Fuji X Series

They are crazy money, even the mk1 people try to sell for £450. A year ago i saw a F for £800 which I should have bought, now a F is like £1000. The V is £1400 used, which is a new camera price.
I’ve seen X100 for £800+ and F for £900+ I’d love an all black F just need to keep an eye out

do you have to get the X100 series though, there is no good reason why an F should be £900 now when i bought a like new mint one for £650 years back.

The original is only worth getting if you are looking to collect, or some people say the Bayer sensor is nice. That's it. As a modern camera, it has so many shortcomings. The AF part is least of its problems. The fact that it takes 2 hands to change focus points really slows things down.

There are many other better cameras for £900, a new X-E4 (albeit no lens) is £900 new and that is basically a X-100v minus the OVF. Although people know about this and the X-E4 is never in stock or come up for sale used.

Lots of people got into the X-100 series or Fuji set up since the pandemic for some reason, perhaps being alone at home got a lot of people picking up as a hobby and they picked Fuji? Whatever the reason, it pushed all Fuji gear prices through the roof, about 50% more than what it was. The X-Pro 1 is almost like £400....i mean...why?

I have a X100f and I picked it up used but in top condition for about about £400 in 2019. I love using it and I've never had an issue with it other than the fact that the battery doesn't last me too long (although a simple solution would be to just buy new one). I thought of selling it a while ago but I'm glad I didn't. Great bit of kit though and I'm sure you'll enjoy it if you're thinking of getting one.

£400?

I paid £430 for the X100 (mk1) 6 months ago lol, albeit the limited edition one, last year i saw a X100F for £800 which i thought was a lot, today there is a X100F for £1150 on LCE....earlier in the day there was a X100V for £1200.

It is insane...

I think it was actually £430 and this was around Sept/Oct 2019 from someone selling locally on Facebook marketplace. My only gripe is that it's the silver one and looking back, I would have preferred to have had the all black version. Can't be too fussy at that price though :D.

I knew it was a good deal at the time. Since I posted earlier, I've gone and charged it up and hope to take it out later.

I'll give you £431 for it. :p

I really find the x100v liberating.

It forces me to not waste time deciding on which lens to take. The tweaked personal film simulations are excellent. I therefore avoid hours of editing. Lens is sharp.

Tiny and compact. Throw it in your bag and always on you. I've got more framed pictures from this than my R5. Two different philosophies of shooting.

Having a prime lens and no option to change what's mounted on the front of the camera certainly makes you think about how to take a picture differently. I would expect that it's arguably, a better way to learn what to include in your frame and what not to include and that it probably teaches you not to be lazy as to change what your capturing, you have to move your feet.

So guys, I am still deliberating over the X-T5. I'm now in a position to buy, however, what to go for. Is the 16-80 lens worth paying the extra over the body only? It seems like a decent sharp lens that can be had for about £650 second hand, and it might actually be a helpful lens for me with my sports photography. £2059 (with the cashback) versus the £1609 for the body only.

Apologies but do you mean the 16-55? It is around £600-650 used whereas the 16-80 can be picked up for as little as £450.
FWIW, the 16-55 on the X-T5 is an excellent combo - the shots I get from them still astound me.

No there are two lens deals - the 16-80 and the 18-55 (kit lens?) I'm sure I saw the 16-80 selling for over £600 today second hand. I was just thinking if I was able to save £100 or so new it might be worth it. But maybe not based on that.

That 16-80 sale must have been an outlier - they are mostly around £450 (in fact there are a good few for even less than that) and even MPB have one at £464.

at least if you do get one they should hold their value i would have thought. It looks like the high priced are here to stay

just get one in very good condition and with box and all the bits like manual and original strap, battery etc
Update: Managed to grab a mint boxed X100F from the bay, £845 delivered - Prices are crazy at the moment, been looking for weeks some people want £1,200+ for a used F …. Cannot bring myself to spend that sort of money

Makes me wonder if I should sell my X100V…. I really like it but could do with the cash.

The price will plummet when the next one is released so if you need to free up the cash, now might be the peak as some people want it to take it on holiday in the summer.
