Fuji X Series

Well.. I had received confirmation of shipping, but now I've been informed that the lens is in fact out of stock, with no due date. The only places I can find it in stock are at very over inflated prices. I could go second hand, but I've been put off before doing that. Sucks eh.

Wex has a 14 days returned one for similar price.

A lot of Fuji stuff is really pricey at the moment due to scarcity.

MPD have quite a few in excellent condition and a good place to buy used.

New one here for £1,374 with the eBay code WOW10: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12567639...rkparms=%26rpp_cid%3D64d2059b5856492139a7c51d

I have been burnt with second hand before which puts me off, but that new price is pretty shocking. I do wonder if that wex second hand is good however. It says just an open box.

See I was debating against the X-T30II but I think with also wanting to dabble into video as well, the XS10 was a bit more suited with little things like IBIS.

The XS20 is a bit more than I want to spend so have ordered an XS10 “vlogger” kit for £900 including the 15-45, a mic that I may or may not ever use and a gorillapod. Seemed a decent price for the extras only a few quid more than a new body only would be.
X-T30 can be had for £600 used or £799 for a new X-T30 II.

A used XS10 is about 50% price of a XS20 at about £650-700, boxed as well. A. new XS20 is £1250, and i've not seen a used one come up on the market yet.

I think of all the used Fuji bodies on the market now the XS10 is the best value for money. X-T4 is like £900. XH-1 is like £500-600 still...X-T2 is like £400.
I’m in this dilemma at the minute. Just spent a week in Europe using a Fuji X-T200 and 27mm f/2.8 as my main shooting combo. I used the same camera and a 23mm f/1.4 for a previous trip and whilst the pics were great the lens was too heavy for the body and it was a pain to balance, hence deciding to use the 27mm on this trip. Size, weight and balance were great for travel but about 60% of the shots were unusable due to the relatively poor AF performance. I also noticed a persistent magenta tint on pretty much all photos which must be down to the lens as I haven’t noticed it before.

Anyway, the camera went missing so I’m in the market for a new Fuji body and lens combo for travel. I was looking at a used X-T3 or X-T30II but I use the fully articulating screen a lot so then leaned towards the X-S10. Saw the X-S20 was out and was pretty sure that would be the replacement but the price made me wince. I just want a camera with a good enough grip that can be used single handed with the 23mm f/1.4, and with the x-trans sensor and features that allow the various home brew film sim recipes to be used and saved. Not sure what to do!

@Scuzi there's a used X-T4 on MM for a good price, that would be worth considering.

I was tempted myself.

The X-T4 is a bit of a beefcake - in terms of Fuji’s lineup. While it does offer the features you have identified it wouldn’t be my own first choice as a travel camera but of course YMMV.
If a small/lightweight was top of your list then the X-S10 would be the pick - it’s basically a baby X-T4 but has the nice deep grip.
There’s a few X-S10’s available at WEX/MPB for ~£700.

Never been a fan of the traditional PASM controls on the X-S10. Part of my love for Fuji is the dedicated dials for SS, EV and ISO.

Do you think the AF in the X-S10 will be noticeably better than the X-T200?

Regarding the dials, I’ve never wanted a shutter speed dial, but I find myself using EV compensation and ISO a lot. I mostly shoot in Av. The dials on the 200 were customisable to achieve this but not sure about the X-S10.

I've never used the X-T200 but I'd almost certainly say it's a big step up. I found the X-S10 to have excellent AF and it's worth pointing out it has the exact same internal gubbins as the X-T4 (sensor/processor etc) so it's no slouch in that regard.

The left dial was customisable - I mapped it to ISO which was quite handy. I'm not sure if Fuji opened up the other dials with subsequent firmware updates - I know they did it with other models but worth checking that out.

So the 50-140 has arrived from Wex. It certainly appears to be in brand new condition. I see what you mean about heavy! One question however; there is a noticeable low whirring noise coming from the lens. It disappears only when I go to view the image, and comes back when I press the shutter. Any ideas what this could be? I've never had this before on any lens.

OIS?

It’s the linear focus motor. When the camera is on, the magnets are engaged (hence the whirring noise). When the camera is off (or when you are in playback mode) the magnets are disengaged - hence the “rattle”.

Found this in the local LCE. Boxed with 3k shutter count. Seems pretty much as-new. Almost bought the 23mm f/1.4 they had too but the wife would have served me divorce papers. Maybe next time. You‘ll see from my earlier posts I was considering this against an X-T4 but the smaller package and price swayed me.

Initial play with it suggests it’s a significant step up from the X-T200. The shutter clunk reminds me of my old EOS 1V. I’m really liking the look from the X Trans sensor vs the bayer. I find this intriguing because one of my main reasons for choosing the 200 over this in the first place was the look of the Bayer - I guess my tastes have changed. Over the next week or so I’m going to play with some of the film sim recipes. I haven’t been this excited about photography in a long time! I’ve always preferred the film look and now this allows me to get closer than ever.

The S10 and the S20 can be remote linked to Fuji's portable Instax printer (polaroid esq), but some reason the X-T4 are not.

So it's also one unexpected perk if you want to do that for fun, on holiday.
